The other day, I downloaded Wolves of the Pacific, sadly, before I found out I am too light on RAM to run it, and you can't swap out vid cards on laptops...sigh. Not to fear, soon I'll have a new PC to run SH5 on, and all will be well. I was tired of playing SH3, andthen, I remembered something.
I dug out my old SH2 disc, and fired up my really old E-Machine that had Aces of the Pacific on it. Everything went in and fired up perfectly on a Vista machine, followed the instructions with Pac Aces, and set it for compatability with Win95, and it fired up and ran first try. I don't know if its important, but it seems you can run alot of old stuff on Vista, IF you don't put it in 'Program Files, but just into 'C', instead!.
Good God, I had forgotten how good the sound is on Pac Aces, and, those Jap DD"s are pretty killer, at least for the first pass. Tons of fun! The stereo separation in SH2 is fantastic, you can really tell where the DD's are in relation to your Sub, it seems that it is more mono in SH3. Great fun, and very very playable after all these years
Thank you, guys who did Pac Aces, if your still out there sailing, good hunting to you!
