View Full Version : Crysis problems
I have had Crysis for some time now but don't play it because I have some strange problems, heres a couple:
1) Quite often the game goes into or runs in slow motion, have to reload to fix.
2) If I hit space to miss video the game gets stuck at that spot, my team mate just stays at that point!
BTW I have patched to version 1.2 but lower right of screen shows 1.1:-?
Any help appreciated.:yep:

Can't think of anything other than a reïnstall, maybe DL patches again. Perhaps something got corrupted along the way. :-?
Do you know if the number at the lower right on the screen is supposed to show 1.2?:-? Might give it a reinstall anyway!:yep:

Ehr, might indicate something went wrong with patching, which is why re-downloading those might be a good idea. A patch could be corrupt after DL, but I think normally the installer checks the integrity. Another thing could be that you tried applying a US or Europe patch to a different version; some games have different patches depending on the region the game was released in, but again the installer should pick up on that.
Not sure if this applies to Crysis though, nor am I familiar with the issues you're reporting, so it's a stab in the dark really. :-?
Getting the patches again and trying to patch is probably faster than reïnstall, so you could try that first.

Good point. :yep: What are you running on, and what graphics-driver version are you using?
*There's a possible fix for the slowdowns; apparently it's caused by excessive accesing of the page-file, which would seem to indicate it's running out of RAM (last 2 posts): http://www.techsupportforum.com/gaming-forum/pc-gaming-support/232414-persistent-random-slowdowns-crysis.html
Weird since I ran it on 2GB without issues, but that was on XP (I'm guessing you have Vista).
:hmmm:
Are you running in DX10? Might try DX9 mode.
System is OK:
AMD Dual core PhenomII Deneb 3.7ghz
4gb Kingston ram NB 2020mhz DRAM 538mhz x 2 (1076)
ATI HIS Turbo HD4850 512mb
Win XP with DX9This slow motion only seems to happen with a certain key combo that I may hit by mistake every now and then.
I just totally uninstalled Crysis cleaned up any trace of it then reinstalled, before running it I applied the 1.2 patch (380mb). All seemed to go ok, then fired it up for the first time, this is the screen:

As you can see at the lower right it is still version 1.1!:damn:

Think mine says that also, ya tryed what Arclight posted... with the config?
(whats this button combo?)
Arclight

Mine reads 1.1.1.6156.
That's with the 1.2.1 patch installed as well. Guess it's at least patched correctly. :O:
:hmmm:
I don't know, like I said this is an unfamiliar issue to me. Give it a spin, see if the slowdowns are gone. That thread I linked to earlier might help.
* running out of VRAM? Turn down graphics, particularly texture details.
** regular crap: latest driver version, latest DX9 version, perhaps SP3 for XP.
*** or maybe an older driver. A driver that was around when Crysis was released may have been used for actual testing of the game, making it less likely to intefere with it. Really a long shot, that one. :D

Thanks for confirming that Arclight and Yours is the same as well Task Force!:yep: Well that confirms the install is ok. I had just come on to say that I downloaded the patch again, did a compare of the 2 files and they are identical, if the key combo causes the slowdown again I will have to try the link you supplied Arclight making a config file in the game main folder.:yep:
Since your reading this I notice there are many mods around to improve the texturing for this game, can you recommend any?:D
Well the slow motion seems to be fixed, might have been the reinstall, though I have another error now that I didn't have before, when I kill the guys in the Humvee the guy (bot) just stays there, does nothing, but I can't use the vehicle!:-?

Shooting the jerrycan on the back will fix that. Just don't expect to be driving anywhere after that. :O:
Maybe save-reload, or a level restart. Not really a critical issue, right? :hmmm:
As for mods, that's TF's field of experience. I don't mod games very often. This one is pretty cool though: All Crysis Needed Was A Flux Capacitor (http://kotaku.com/5410501/all-crysis-needed-was-a-flux-capacitor) :yep:
Holy.. :o That's AWESOME!!!

Hmm... reece, thats a problem with crysis, lots of bugs that havent been crushed...
Did you get the jeep tire bug also. (first level after patching usualy has the jeeps with only 2 tires.)
did you shoot him? and he stayed like that, or did you just find him like that?
Oah and reece... what kind of textures ya looking for...
I will say tho, crysis has to be one of my favorite platforms, because It can be turnt into vurtualy any game... people do alot of remakes of old games with it, or make entire levels/games with there own ideas. (look over at crymod for other mods, people have made come cool stuff.)
The Delorian looks great, downloading that now!

(look over at crymod for other mods, people have made come cool stuff.)From a distance he was shooting me & I let him have it, the shooting stopped as I killed him, I have come across 2 Humvees both the same, when I was close I took the snap, shooting him does nothing, haven't noticed the 2 wheels yet, this is the first level, I have started this many many times and getting sick of it, hopefully I don't have to start it again!!
The Texture mods are many, I have DX9 but there are mods such as DX10 unlockers, are they usable with DX9? many others such as Natural mod, Improved Grass and Trees, MEMOD, Particles mod, this causes CTD's, I use JSGME so I can easily take them out but wondered if you knew of the best mods to use.:yep:

Hmm how do you have JSMEG set up... have its root in
Where ever its located/Crysis/Game.
all depending on the file type it probably is in a PAK file... all you have to do is place them in your Game folder.
And The reason he is not dead (guy on hummer.) is because the game didnt give him his death animation for some reason. Crysis has alot of bugs and glitches...
ya need any help on what to do, ive played the entire game numerous times...
(could you give me links, dont worry, modding crysis isnt like il2, the makers support it.)
and yes, there is a DX 10 effects in DX 9 thingy...
I might try the DX10 unlocker! JSGME versions 2.2 and higher have to be used so as to change the Mods folder to something different, Crysis & Far Cry use the Mods folder, I called mine "MODIFICATIONS", just run JSGME and follow the setup, have mine the same as SH3, in the main game folder.
Links to some mods I assume you mean:

some notes.
the 2 mod, paradice mod is actualy a total conversion mod, it is its own level, from what I understand it is not finished. and may never be. (but it is very good)
to open do as I did below.
3rd one savana jungle, very nice map, to open just press ` while in the menu and type the following in it
Con_restricted 0
and then map with the maps name here.
4th one, the natural mod. It looks very good, it changes the TODs (time of day) files of the game.
5th one, never used it, but now I think I will, Just point the installer where it is surpose to go.
6th, yep, also a nice mod.
Also, if you dont like the stock lower quality suit skin.

That is something I never understood about Crysis. The game has been on the market for more than 2 years now and still you are hard pressed to find any real big mods that are finished. Sometimes you get an hour of game play but never something that could compare to the original campaign. Well to be honest I have no clue about how difficult it is to mod a campaign but when I see what modders in other branches achieve (I just joined a group of guys as a translator who have been modding NWN2 campaigns which were comparable in size to the original ones) I somehow think that the Crysis mod community is pretty weak.:hmm2:

yea, from what I see the crysis community is not realy large...
If i am correct. It is quite hard to make a long campaign for crysis. The editor is not all that simple. Plus you would have to make numerous maps I believe.
crysis has lots of smaller mods, not realy any larger mods.
Anyone know how to get a sniper rifle?:hmmm:

At some point you can either proceed along the beach, a road that runs paralel and a bit elevated, or a narrow band of jungle along the road. I think Prophet comments there are/may be snipers there. If you move through that bit of jungle, there's a guy laying down somewhere with a "precision rifle", though at that point you probably only have an ACOG scope (could be that scope comes with the rifle, think it's called "assault scope" in the game).
IIRC this is as you aproach that town with the school where you need to rescue that woman. :hmmm:
Carefull though, the first time I found that guy I literally ran into him; he's difficult to spot.
IIRC this is as you aproach that town with the school where you need to rescue that woman.Passed that way back, must have missed him or killed him but didn't check his weapon, oh well I'll look closer from now on, just that some of the camps are crawling with Koreans and have had to start the level a few times, Sniper Rifle would be much easier!!:yep:
Thanks.

I really perfected my sneaking in Crysis. I can take out a 3-man patrol without alerting others and only firing 1 tranq dart. :D
Your pistol is very quiet too, when fitted with a silencer/suppressor. Just use sniper tactics; headshot > relocate. Either use speed to get out quick, or cloak to remain unnoticed.
That's what I like about Crysis: you can play it how you want. I hate rambo-style games and I dislike shooters, but because I can sneak around I love Crysis. :yep:

ok, want a sniper and aamo...
ya know the school, theres a large building next to it.
go in, shoot KPA.
go up the stairs, and on the oppisate side of the school there is a sniper w/ aamo. downstairs (if you need there is also RPSs...)
stuff to help you...
THERE are LOTS of shortcuts in crysis... like the waterfall going into the city... allows you to get in without problems... want to know any, just ask im currently playing back through crysis...
