I got offered a new boat after my last patrol (for the second time) figure better take it or a desk job might be in my future.

So I said goodbye to the USS Spearfish in Fremantle on 14 May 1942  Got shipped up to Pearl and took command of USS Finback SS 230(seemed fitting check here) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Finback_%28SS-230%29) My orders are to Patrol the Celebes Sea (long drive:o) It's 23 May should I take a detour, I mean refuel stop to Midway? Seems one of the shaft bearings is sounding a little funny, maybe have em take a look at it at Midway then do a shakedown run NW of the Atoll.

I know a lot people go out of their way to observe the historical battles, but to me they always seem mere shadows of how the real thing went down. A lot of it is the limitations of the game engine. The unrealistic way the planes fly and ships manuver, a lot of the actual ships are missing, the poorly rendered smoke. However, maybe someday it'll look like this as the planes stacked on deck begin to go up.

You should by all means make a pit stop at Midway!!!!!
You would not want to take a defective boat into combat.

I might also suggest that you take a more northerly course to your patrol zone. There are some very dangerous currents and undertows on the direct route. To avoid these I would suggest a course about 250 nm NNE of Midway. At this time of year there are many heards of whales in that area so keep a sharp lookout for them, could seriously damage your boat if a collision should occur.

Good luck and good whale hunting.
