My dad took a Job in Laredo, Texas about a year ago.

He is in the medical field, so he spends upwards of 5 days a week actually living in the hospital around the clock.

Good news: the money is excellent
Bad news: he has to basically live there in a small dorm type room 280 days out of the year.

as a result, he has not had but 3 opportunities to make the 530 mile adventure home since taking the job last February.

So, we met in Houston to visit for a few days which was more or less a half way point for both of us... at least a half way point where there was anything worth doing.

we paid visit to the San Jacinto Monument, the USS Texas, USS Stewart and USS Cavalla.

Did not get many pics as i just had my cell phone camera and i was to busy looking at stuff through my own eyes vs taking pics, however im happy to report that all three vessels appear to be in excellent shape.

We even attended a high school football game with some friends in the area and they won, so all in all it was a lot of fun packed into a 2 day visit.

he gets another chance to come home for 3 days during Thanksgiving... and a couple of days around Christmas.

I can only imagine what the Military families are going through.

Cavalla looked fantastic. Near seaworthy IMHO someone did great polishing all of that metal!

USS Texas looked great too.

Laredo?

That's a long way from Houston, but I know people from Dallas don't know that due to I was born in Fort Worth, raised in Waco and grew up in Houston.:yeah:

Dallas people only know north and south on the way to Oklahoma or Houston. :woot:

Glad you had a good time with your pa ... I bet he serves a lot of poor people down there ...
