Might as well retire, there's no way to top this. Found myself off the coast of the Philippines on October 20, 1944. Went and read some history when I almost got mowed over by a 'friendly' carrier task force. When I realized what was going on, I moved south to the Suringao strait. I hung out a bit south of where the PT boats originally attacked.

Sure enough, right on schedule, the Japanese southern force cam barreling through. Using my best RR-inspired O'Kane attack, I fired all 6 forward tubes at a passing Fuso. My guesstimate was he was doing 25 knots. I hit with 5, one a dud, the other four took him out. I tried maneuvering for stern tubes, but had 4 destroyers overhead right away. I figured my part of the battle was over, and limped away. They finally gave up.

At dawn I surfaced for some air, and discovered that 2 destroyers were sitting still in the water, with a couple more radar returns behind them. Dove and snuck below the destroyers, came back up.

Holy cow, it's the other Fuso! sitting dead still, broadside, smoking heavily. 4 torps put him down, and I'm getting cocky. More smoke on the horizon proved to be the Mogami. It took 3 or 4 more, but then I got a surprise. The destroyers weren't hurt, they had all apparently been sleeping. They woke up and came after me. I dodged north and found 2 Takao heavy cruisers leaning on their sides. My last 5 torps took them down, but now I had 2 destroyers with nothing to lose over me.

Another sneak, and one by one they disappeared! Cheated with the external cam and saw a glorious PBY flying away after bombing my attackers. Gonna have to buy those guys a beer when I get back.

And that's all that's left. Gotta make the trip home. Pic when my hosting company finishes their downtime.

Awesome! :yeah: You made screenshots of course, did you?

The president will maybe run out of medals to give to you, though. :DL

No. I shall not be seen at Pearl. I shall not shake the hand of the President. I shall not sit around the VFW halls telling my story.

A F$%@$#%@ing corrupted save! Two of them! I have never, ever, had a corrupted save.

So now it might be time to retire, but from utter frustration.

My last good save is on the 19th. Maybe I'll go sit in the San Bernadino straits...

Or it's time to start over with TMO 1.8

Ok, not as spectacular as your patrol Von Glaus, but I sneaked into Truk on my last patrol and saw this little fleet sitting there:

Here a picture of most of the ships in the SW, some smaller cruisers are not visible...

And after a very long and hard night this was the result:

Sank some merchants to have a clear way, then I shot 4 torpedoes (Influence trigger) at the carrier, one of them missed, but luckily the 3 others were enough to sink it. Then I shot my 2 remaining torpedoes at a cruiser (the only ship left in range for my Mk18s) but both were duds. The carrier and the cruiser were very close together as you can see on pic 2.

Still, I'm quite happy, 45900 tons is quite enough for one night :salute:

Nicely done! IF I ever do this again, I go straight back to base, don't trust a save.

I'm goin' down

That was almost as good as when my girlfried, who was pissed off that I wasn't paying enough attention to her, tied me up in the middle of a mission and took over the game, positioning the computer screen so I could see it. She took control of my boat, sailed into the midle of an allied task force, sunk two carriers and sent a message to Nimitz that the Barbarinna had defected.:haha:

Funny thing is -- I did not know she could play.
