so far the official word is "First Quarter 2010"

This means January February or March.

as for a nailed down hard date?

from what i can tell they usually release games right at the same time as they end the first quarter of the year (jan-march) so it improves the slower revenue period (summer slump) in the second and third quarter sales that they report.

i think its a stock related thing so that they try and time game releases when it helps out the companies financial reports. boring stock stuff i know but it fits the pattern.

It's been a long time since I've seen a game release at it's first announced date. My optimistic guess is June... If they release it before May you can bet that the game will be a Public Beta test.

I bet the managers at Ubisoft release it in the first quarter of 2010, whether completed or not is irrelevant. End of first quarter is end of Ubi's fiscal year!

My prediction:

Ubisoft goes bankrupt before 1st qtr, 2010. Bethesda will buy the publishing rights altering the modding community drastically. The top downloaded mods for SH5 will be "Hentai Tommies" and a mod that let's your crew dance to "Blue" by Eiffel65.

The upshot is that DarN will improve the interface and Korana will give the interiors of our U-boats a lady's touch with pink cushions and Big Nose Bears adorning our captain's bunks.

Yea nut cases give the end time prophecy credit to the mayan. It's an irony that they didn't know the end of their own civilization :rotfl2:.
I absolutely detest and disgusted with 2012. I even personally boycott the movie. BOOOOOOOOOOO! Would be fine if they changed the date though like 4/6/2063 or even Christmas this year . The hype on 2012 is just plain stupidity

How do you know they did not know the end of their own civilization? You were there I take it? Had they known, what could they have done about it anyway? Were not the Mayans well versed in space, stars and time telling etc? Or was that another culture?

I may not be a diehard 2012 follower as some I hear about however I also do not just dismiss it out of hand for one big reason... Who's to say that the Mayans being well versed in science did not witness an event that based on mathmatics and time calculated out to the year 2012 as the RETURN of that event..... say a large asteroid or previously unknown comet or some other such event that perhaps ALMOST hit back then but might just this time around.....

Never dismiss that which you do not know or understand. Worry about it? Nah. Let it control your life? Nah. Get all stressed and worried about it? Nah.. you cannot do anything about it anyway. But do live life to the fullest because you never know for sure.......

I'm not a diehard 2012 nay-sayer but I dismiss it out of hand for one big reason: big changes happen slow! Plus, we're talking about the end of humanity and, the last time I've checked, that might actually be a good thing. And good things don't happen to me often :wah:. haha this is off-topic! oh well.

good post. my main thing with 2012 is that even most Mayans of today think we are nuts for all this hype. They don't even hold much significance to 2012 in their own culture. And 90% of the predictions by folks are not "End of the World" stuff but a new awakening. Either way, its funny to watch all the nuttiness. :)

I'd wager Infinity Ward has a much bigger staff than Ubi Romania, plus a dedicated marketing team to such a big budget title like MW2. SH5 is a niche product and thus will probably not have all of that hoopla associated with it.

You can't compare the budgets and relative attention of the Call of Duty and Silent Hunter series. One may as well compare Dangerous Waters to Fallout 3.

Ye... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to compare the games I was just thinking that Ubisoft should try to draw some attention towards the game. Not only from simmers but regular gamers aswell.

With all the new eye-candy, they'd be crazy not to release more videos. The first one was very well made. This is a new type of sim and newcomers to the series would have no idea that videos gave the wrong impression that SH3 and SH4 also seemed to feature full 3d fps interiors :haha:. But now they can go all out with it and reel in new gamers with some well made vids.
