BTW this mod is outstanding~!!

1. I started a new career using GWX and previous to playing GWX on the stock SH3 the contacts on the nav map were color coded to tell of enemy or neutral or friendly.... Now i started my career in 1939 2nd Flotilla and all the contacts are green colored and I cant tell if I should give em a fish or not? All the towns and boats on map are green does this mean the war didnt start yet and I shouldtnt shoot??

2. When the navigator says "radio message recieved" were do I find this message to listen to????????? :damn:

3. When i started my new career it started out saying i needed to go to BF10 but there is no BF10 only BF11 grid??????

Everything else seems to be pretty easy to understand as far as the game goes but these three I dont get??

$@!%^@#&^@...It is ALL writen in one GWX manual!

Whats a manual??? :timeout:

A user guide or user's guide, also commonly known as a manual, is a technical communication (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_communication) document (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document) intended to give assistance to people using a particular system.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_guide#cite_note-0) It is usually written by a technical writer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_writer), although user guides are written by programmers, product or project managers, or other technical staff, particularly in smaller companies.
User guides are most commonly associated with electronic goods, computer hardware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_hardware) and software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_software).
Most user guides contain both a written guide and the associated images. In the case of computer applications, it is usual to include screenshots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenshot) of how the program should look, and hardware manuals often include clear, simplified diagrams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diagram). The language used is matched to the intended audience (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audience), with jargon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jargon) kept to a minimum or explained thoroughly.

I didnt know it came with a manual!! honest!!

You could try being helpful. It looks like this:

1. If all the cities on the map and all the ships you come across are the same color chanses are that the war hasn't started yet. The war dosen't kick off untill September 1st 1939. Even then the only valid targets would be Polish shiping, and I have yet to come across any Pol ships with the second fleet. England will jump into the war three days later on the 3rd. If you hit "F1" you can find a listing called "Enemies of Germany", that will tell you who is a valid target starting when and lasting how long.

2. When you get a notification of having a new radio mesage just hit the "m" key. That will bring up the proper screen to check your mesages.

3. I am not sure about this one. In the long run I don't think it realy matters weather or not you patrol your asigined grid, the renown bonos for doing so is gone. If it keeps giving you target grids you can't find you might consider using the SH3 Commander tool. With this tool you can controll lots of things including asigning a new patrol grid of your chosing or a new random one.

To be fair, the GWX 3 manual comes separate from the install. You can get it here (http://www.filefront.com/12774629/Manual_V3.0_Final.pdf), just look up whatever you need in there, and you should find it. It's also great just to look through it anyways, as there are dozens of features and little bits covered in there that you might not otherwise know about.

Ya, brousing thru that is a generaly good idea. But for a few simple questions like these asking here could be faster and easyer. After all that manual is freekin' huge.

Also...in the periscope view (F3) in the upper left hand corner of the screen (GWX users) you'll see a tab labeled "Flaggen". Pull that down and you'll find all the flags of the countries involved in WWII. Next to each flag is a note of either AL (Allies) or AX (Axis) or Neutral. What is even better is that next to these flags are the years/dates of their involvement in the war. Case in point: All British (Empire) countries like England, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Egypt started on and after Sept 1 1939. Whereas the US didn't get into the fray until late 1941....some countries later than that.

In the GWX manual (Get it and read/study it) there is another similar flag chart with a graph of their involvement; giving the years of neutrality or allied with Germany or the Allies.

I have learned that between 1939 to autumn of 1941 in any Career I choose I have to be careful at who I shoot at, especially in the dark. On one patrol (June 1941) I was patrolling in the Azores in a IXB and sank 2 merchants in the dark. The Nav map showed the wrecks as green...oops! I found out I sunk 2 American merchants. After 51 days on patrol I returned to base and I was soundly spanked and was fined a great deal of renown. Now..in that same career (patrol 6) I have had to pass up several ships because they were neutral. On my way back I was able to find and hunt and kill an Egyptian freighter only due to being able to identify the flag in the periscope view and pulling down the Flaggen tab. Hence....a red wreck icon on the Nav map.

Peruse the GWX manual. The premise of this mod is realism, so in many cases you'll need to ask questions first, then shoot if need be later.

Sweet Jebus!:o Friendly round here ain't it?

Answers!
1) When you start a career in GWX you start before the onset of war. That's why everything is labeled as friendly (i.e green). This was done to simulate a 'shake down cruise'.

2) Press M

3) GWX is still only an expansion over the original Game and that original game has unfixable bugs. Assigning grids that don't exist is one of them. Just pick a grid and do your own thing.

Lastly, the GWX manual is included with every install. Either as a link or within the Documentation folder.

Happy hunting OP.:DL

Incorrect my friend. Danlisa is correct, the manual is located in the documentation folder: Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII/documentation. Look for the PDF file called "Manual_V3.0".

Good Luck

Your questions were pretty much answered already. As to the grid, BF10 would mean in Kriegsmarine grid naming system "all the grids from BF11 to BF19" - so you can feel free to roam this area during your patrol.

As far as i remember GWX does NOT reward you for patrolling your patrol zone assignement with renown points (as in stock game), so you could as well just not care about it at all.

The same and the same posts again.. RTFM before shouting your throat out noob!

Who are you to offend people on these forums? By such posts you make it worse, not better, so go RTF netiquette first!

I'll just add, The green ships are neutrals. I'm not sure if you get penalized for attacking them. I'm certain someone knows though:yeah:

That's ******** right ignore manuals and save your precious time, keep asking here, since majority of us has no more stuff to do just to answer 165416 time the same question.

No one is asking you to do anything. If you do not feel like answering a question, don't respond to the post. There will be many others here who don't mind helping out new people.

It is not like the poster asked you specifically to take time away from your enjoyment of the forums to answer a question. The questions were posted for anyone who felt like helping out a new player.

If you felt that the asking of these questions was inappropriate, then simply ignore it and continue enjoying yourself. But there was no need to be rude to someone new to the game.
