Battlestations Pacific needs its own sub forum

When i say sub forum I dont mean submarine forum i mean a forum on the same level as PT boats.)

Why Battlestations pacific doesnt have its own sub forum for disussion I dont know when you have games of lesser graphical quality and lesser complexity focussed around a single platform, like PT boats kights of the sea, I just roll my eyes and wonder who he paid to get that. lol

Given that battlestations pacific covers the fleet and airforces to 2 complete navies, its strategy and tactics of all platforms, how does this compare to some pt boats running around firing torpedoes, it doesnt.

While BattleStations Pacific may not be a "simulation", it deinitely approaches it and its depth of situational awareness and players focussed intesity of game management and hard core stategy is extreme especially if your in battle it can be intense and in my opinion is a strategy simulation in that sense. After reading the Review on subsim about bsp and its condescending nature, if you dont want target reticules?? then turn the bloody things off in the options. Also that one sub can carry 60 torpedoes when in the silent hunter series it can be set to have "unlimited" torpedoes, so get real here. Yes its level of control of units is simple and easy but so it is in silent hunter, turn your sub with a mouse click and change your speed with a mouse click, change yoru depth with a mouse click, how simple is that. You dont need complex control features in the middle of an intense battle, common now UnderseaLcpl...... But all of us serious hard core naval gamers know its not the control of the units that is important it is the immersian factor and with its cinematic level graphics which makes you think your watching a ww2 movie so, BSP DEFINITELY has thaaaat. So give BSP a break subsim and let it develop properly in your forums.

Battlestations series is now in the making of the Battlestations Atlantic so there is still lots of good things to come. Not to mention its already good new official download addons of maps, ships and aircraft.

I've usually stuck to War in the Pacific despite it's excruciating length for Pacific Theater strategy. Never tried the Battlestations Pacific. Does it simulate aspects like logistics and supply and industrial production?

No, it's just a tactical game. It's also a long shot from simulating pretty much anything...

Has that been confirmed officially by Eidos? I haven't seen any notification on that anywhere. And the very poor post release support for Battlestations Pacific has not exactly filled me with confidence for any future offering from Eidos. I'd actuallly be very surprised if they continue the series as BSP sadly hit the bargain bins pretty quickly, indicative of low sales performance. I think their biggest mistake was tying the game to the dreadful "Games for Windows live".

As to changing the forum structure it might be better to move the "General games discussion" into the general section and create a new sub-forum here purely for naval games.

I don't think there is sufficient interest to warrant a separate BSP forum here. If there were a lot of active threads on the game then I might agree with you.

This forum is for discussing any games that don't have their own forum branch.

As for a reorganization of the forums I would suggest talking to Neal about it.

In Capture the island mode, the navy version of capture the flag, the object is to capture various islands on the map, certain islands have either airbases, or navy bases, navy bases that provide different types of ships/planes. or different resources of navy supplies, which can include stronger armour, for a period of time, better manuvering, autoreloading, and others i cant remember.

Capturing islands is done by paratoops, or landing troops from an lst or landing ship or for a longer period being say a destroyer in close to the base, blowing it up and neutralizing it and then taking it over. So its tactical and strategy involved in keeping and maintaining the island as for the resouces its brings to yourself or your team.

Bombers and c47 skytrains can be set to once load is dropped they have to return to base to load up again, or they can load in the air over a period of time, but if in the air they still have to be protected. So its all a crap shoot no matter which way you do it.

I played the game, went trought all the missions except the Japanese 'what if' scenario...

The game is a simple shooter, it has nothing to do with simulation whatsoever and its too easy but its entertaining, not more.

It has alot of qualities like the Battlefield games but it lacks something, dont know what, probably atmoshere.
