Hi, I'm new to SHIV so I have newby questions.:DL
First, how do I know which ports I can refit and fuel at. Is it just the ones with the anchors?
Second, I haven't found a good way to determine target speed for the TDC. I've heard that I can use a stopwatch or something, and I've heard that I can do a double check on info and using that the game will tell me the speed. I can't find the button for that. maybe it's not in my version of the game.

Ok, one last thing for now, on starter subs: I've been using the Tambor on 100% realism, and while I love having 6 tubes in the front, I am concerned about its fuel usage. I'm on my first sortie and I'm near out with not a port within 200 mi. Being a new player, I'm not concerned with firepower more than I am with survivability. If there is a better starting ship then I'm all ears.

Thanks for any help granted :DL

Yes, anchors are your ports for refit.

Try to keep your regular cruising speed in the 9 to 10 knots range. If the tanks run dry there is no rescue.

Good advice from Torp... when cruising stay around 10 knots and you'll get the best mileage possible + plus don't forget that running submerged all day at 2 knots will save ya a bunch too. If you alternate back and forth with running submerged and surface cruising you should be in great fuel shape when you hit the patrol zone.
