View Full Version : Amazing! Has it happened to you??
So I went yesterday through an amazing experience that had never happened to me before :o
I had a mathematical problem in my job, nothing rocket science, but that would need paper, pencil and a calculator to be solved. I quit work, go home, have dinner and go to sleep. While sleeping, I have a dream and on it a guy I was speaking to, suddenly raises the question and gives me the end-solution of the problem :o:o
I woke up this morning, still remembering this, and inmediately picked pencil, paper and a calculator. After some time fiddling around with all this, I get the solution....exactly the same that guy told me in my dream!!!!! :o:o:o:o
Coincidence? Luck? Your thoughts????

I beleive Einstien had a number of this type of experience.
Pretty good company :salute:
The subconcious works in wonderful ways. I've had many experiences where solutions to problems come to me when dreaming or waking me suddenly in the middle of the night going "Of Course! Why didn't I think of that before?".
Great when it works out.

The good ol' eureka moment. Great when they happen, especially if its something big on your mind that is difficult to impossible to solve normally.

Yes, usually though the person provides an answer that has escaped me. I know the answer but can not think of it. Then in the middle of the night the answer comes to me. Normally after I remember it at say oh friggin 0200 I wake up and can not sleep for the rest of the night. :x
Usually these answers are delivered by Night Mares:

Such moments have happened quite often to me, but mostly when I was lying in my bed right before going to sleep - some "Why haven't I thought of that before" events. Lucky for me I remember them most of the time :DL

Nope hasn't happened to me but i hear this happening to others a lot, at times i have those deja vu dreams where what i dreamt happens a few weeks later. I just wish the winning lotto numbers would turn up in my dreams. :D

I get deja vu all the time like that.
As far as dreaming about work, unfortunately, I dream about it all the time. I worked for two jobs for 15+ years and then became dissabled about three years ago. I ALWAYS have dreams where I'm working at either one job, or the other, or in a store that is both stores combined into one. And they're re-occuring. I even dream that I get up, shower, go into work, work a full day, and then wake up all pissed that I just worked a full nine hour shift and didn't get paid for it ! And a lot of times, I wake up exhausted as if I just DID work a full nine hour shift. :damn:

I think there is a reason they tell you to "sleep on it". The brain processes information and often the thing that was difficult the last night is easy the next morning.
Why in the hell are you dreaming about work
It's not that I was dreaming about my job, the dream was entirely unrelated to it. It was a conversation in the street and the guy raised the subject from the mathematical point of view, as maths problem and urelated to my job (Which, being a jurist, has almost nothing to do with maths, despite them sometimes being a side-problem in the legal question)
So far I have never dreamt about things related to my job, but an uncle of mine who had the same job also didn't until he retired, and now has weekly two or three nights where he dreams about being in the court during trials :o Hope this won't happen to me later :shifty:

Yes, me too. Sometimes when your mind gets disconnected from the problem you suddenly find a solution to it. But what amazed me in this case was both that it was while fully aslept, and mainly, that the problem I would have never been able to solve it in my head without help at least from paper and pencil. And yet my brain seemed to solve it "on the fly" and even without following the typichal process of calculating. It was just instantaneous result, like a calculator :D
