So I sit down to continue a saved game.

I remembered we were headed for the Bungo Straights in order to attempt to intercept a convoy mentioned in a flash traffic message. I also remembered we had previously sunk a couple of large tankers the night before...

Fuel? check, Batteries? AOK, course plotted? check, return to course ahead standard !

A few quick calcs and we realize were going to be a day late. Oh well lets head for Bungo anyhow.

After about 2 1/2 days of sailing we arrive south of the straights and start sailing northward when 'radar contact'! We alter course to intercept the contacs and a few more pop up 5 in all. Maintain course ahead full.

We arrive on station with no problems and slink down to periscope depth and wait. Watching the contacts on sonar and awaiting their approach.

As the contacts approched an acceptable firing angle I go to the scope to do the preliminary set ups and thats when I noticed it!

Ah crap ! :damn: theres only two torpedoes in the tubes  both electrics, at this range we would be lucky to hit them if they were sitting still. The convoy 2 large moderns, 2 medium composites, and a single escort sailed off into the distance.

I tend to turn auto torpedo loading off so I can put which type of torpedo in which tube and when. Thing is you actually have to tell them what type of torpedo in which tube :shifty:

Note to self add torpedoes to that check list :haha:

On the bright side we were able to get out of visual range, surface, and scoot ahead of the convoy burning tons of fuel but getting torpedoes in the tubes and re-intercepted the convoy. After two running battles 4 merchants sunk and one angry DD circling looking for us

That is one of those times that you want the Weapons Officer to come up to you and ask you what fish you want loaded in what tube. :haha:

hmmm...glad to have gleaned this little gem though...I wasn't aware you could tell the lads which torps to load by turning off AUTO LOADING. I had no idea why anyone would turn it off, so I never knew ever realized it. I don't have to settle for CUTIEs getting rammed into the next available tube now!

Thanks Steam! :woot:

yep, i was really happy when i figured that one out.Used to drive me crazy when i had a mixed load of say steam torpedos and electrics in storage, would end up with 3 steam and 3 electric in foward tubes, which complicates firing at multiple targets for obvious reasons.I DESPISE auto loading lol
