Been playing this game for a little over 6 hrs now, lvl 16 at normal actually i should of went hard as normal is far to easy there's also a hardcore mode where once your character dies that's it. No multi player, just single all the way and an editor download is coming out in a few days. Torchlight is very good.

Only 3 characters to choose from nor can you change their sexes.
Destroyer (warrior type) male
Alchemist (mage/elementist type) male
and Vanquisher (archer/gunslinger) female. Dual pistols ftw!

Each character comes with a pet you can choose either cat or dog they will fight for you and carry your drops, when your full you can send your pet back to town to sell the items and return. Graphics detail is up there with Diablo3 (well close enough) , Interface is spot on the skill tree is excellent, zillions of drops to pickup rare or unique armor sets can drop. Haven't experienced any crashes yet gameplay runs smooth. On the downside it can seem a bit cartoony but its the crazy gameplay that will get you hooked.

Okay im crap with reviews, To much to mention just go out and get it! :)

You forgot to mention why it's so much like Diablo. ;)

Behold Torchlight, a fresh new Action RPG franchise developed by Runic Games. Torchlight is being developed in Seattle by a veteran team composed of the designers and leads of projects like Diablo, Diablo II, Mythos, and Fate. Our team has spent many years honing and evolving this unique style of gameplay.

The adventure is set in the mining settlement of Torchlight, a boomtown founded on the discovery of rich veins of Ember - a rare and mysterious ore with the power to enchant or corrupt all that it contacts. This corruptive power may have dire consequences however, and players set out into the nearby mountains and depths below to discover the full extent of Ember’s influence on the civilizations that have come before.

Runic Games will initially release Torchlight as a standalone Single Player game, Torchlight will be released in the latter part of 2009 as a download or in box. Following the single player release, work will commence on a fully-featured MMO version.

Eh, I don't really care myself. I just really really hate the look of the game. Which reminds me, I hope to the devil himself that diablo 3 doesn't wind up looking as cartoony as it does now. I need darkness, I need detail and texture, I need realistic proportions, I need the Warcraft style to just f'ing die!

Hmm not quite my cup of tea. Looks like they put Warcraft 3 and WoW in a blender.:shifty:

Was in the mood for a hack and slash. Rather than play Diablo or Titan Quest I decided to give this a go. Okay so I tried the game and.....it's not baaad, but it's not so great either.

I am pissed with the importance of passive skills. Every character seems to have the same passive skills and it's just stupid not to max them out as they are extremely useful. Thing is, there's a lot of them, so you will spend a great deal of your skill points just making sure you heal quickly, get better deals, make more critical hits, keep a high defense rating, etc. It kinda ruins creativity because all character builds would be retarded not to put points into these skills. And then there are some overpowered skills. They will surely be balanced though. From what I saw, the game was just too...simple.

I played a Very Hard mode Hardcore character. The first one died on like the first or second floor:shifty: The second one, damn. It was pretty epic. I don't remember how far she got (maybe character level 10-13?), but I will never forget how she died! I walked into this side room and a gate closed the doorway behind me. Before I knew wtf was going on I was completely cornered by a HUGE mob of sword wielding skellies. I frantically attacked and hotkeyed potions. I dealt a lot of damage, but I was still overwhelmed and killed. It was pretty hilarious how it all happened so quickly. Really like 5-10 seconds after I stepped into that ****ed up room I was dead.

Up until that point my strategy was hit and run, kiting and taking advantage of stupid bosses that couldn't get to me. I'll make sure my next character is ready for that kind of f'ing trap next time! The game was fairly easy until that happened:cry:

This game reminds me of Diablo 1. It's just 1 town and one dungeon. Every so many levels through the dungeon it changes scenery. I wish the game didn't go this route though. It's boring. I like when these types of games progress from town to town and region to region with big open spaces as well as the dungeon parts. Having just the one town and infinite dungeon gets old before long.

Hmm suddenly I feel like blurting out "I loved Titan Quest."

I want to see if I can make a summoner build. Like my Diablo 2 Necro. I loved that guy. It's a fun change of pace to focus on making my army stronger rather than my own dude.

Oh uhm, though the graphics are ugly, I like the huge font. The sounds are okay I guess. I wasn't impressed or annoyed by them. The music is quite nice. I'd swear I was playing Diablo 2. Same guy apparently.

I would prefer an alarming sound when the health is low like in Titan Quest. That kathump! sound in TQ saved my ass countless times. In Torchlight it's just some annoying guy that whispers "your health is low". He whispers a whole lot of stuff throughout that game. What an unnecessary voiceover. I can't hear him and the information comes slowly. They should just have a guy that screams. That will get my attention, and it would be funny too. Instead of "your health is low" he could say AHHHHHHHHH until my health goes back up. I would love that.

I wouldn't recommend this game until the overpowered skills are balanced and something is done about the brain dead ai. I cheesed my way through any hard monster fight by just kiting or taking stairs to a ledge above or below them (they will not take the stairs). I'd imagine the ai would be okay if you play melee though. Even if they fix those things, you'd have to be okay with a hack and slash game that looks like ****, doesn't really go anywhere, and has no multiplayer.

There is a new patch out that will require a full re-install of the game. I lost my character half way through the game cause of one nasty bug that triggers if you start another character up and hit the enter key instead of the ok button then its bye bye to your previous character. Since that mishap I haven't bothered to go back and start again. Another unfinished game on my hdd :damn:
