I made the donation for GWX 3.0, now I'm wondering why I did it. I start the download, about 50% of the way through, i get ABORT, RETRY or IGNORE when the download reaches "SEA\NKGN\NKGN_T01.tga.

Any ideas out there as to what I can do to fix this?

Someone please provide me with the sequence of downloading SH3 and all patches and GWX 3.0 to make it work, yes, I have VISTA(it sucks!!!)

Email link removed - RDP

Welcome aboart matey.

Hmm I could be wrong, but aren't the downloads rar and zip files? It sounds like you're getting an error on extraction - in which case, look in the rar/zip files for SEA\NKGN\NKGN_01.tga. Once you've located it you know which one the offending rar/zip is. Redownload that file and try extracting again.

Of course I could be way of the mark if you do mean download and not extraction. We shall see :dead:

Also, I'd consider editing your post and removing your email :) There's plenty of bots surfing the net picking up email addresses posted on forums. Don't want you to end up with mucho spam.

Please don't blame GWX, the mod has absolutely nothing to do with your problem. If over 1,000 SHIII gamers can play it, then the blame points directly at your procedures.

Remarks like the one quoted above from you will get you no help.

At the GXW website they have purposefully upload step by step loading procedures. You also might want to use "MD5Mate" to compare your download source.

http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsmd5m.html (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products-jsmd5m.html)

GWX worked very hard to provide/upload a professional Mega Mod to the SHIII community, there is a wealth of knowledge here, so please just ask and think before you write as this will cause less grief.

At the GWX website under the "Support Tab" there is step by step instructions for "Vista" Users .......like yourself.

If you are still having problems then ask again (without the sarcasm) we will get you up and running.

Good luck.

Kind Regards

Venatore.

Just so. Follow the instructions, use the MD5 to insure correct files and you should be good to go. If not, check back and we will get you up and running (or sailing, as the case may be).

I'm curious as to why people feel that they have to donate to get GWX3???

the donation period was for anyone who wanted to download it one week before official release.

this was a while back IIRC

Might want to look into disabling the donation button ..... especially that the GWX team has gone into liquidation due to the recession :03:

GWX 3.0 is available at Subsim by donation for those that choose that route. Otherwise, you can follow the DL links from the GWX website for free of course.

Way back for the release of GWX 2.0, we allowed users to get an early copy of GWX 2.0 by donation (to Subsim and for Subsim) during its first week... prior to the general free release.

Just as we've always supported Subsim, hosting large/popular mods at Subsim costs Neal money that's gotta come from somewhere. In the same line, our final release is held at Subsim in a rather safe setting... unlike the vagaries of free hosting sites such as FileFront where it can be a real chore to keep links active.

That's why it is again available at Subsim by donation. (Though I don't know at the moment if it is also free at Subsim as well... I think it would be more appropriate if the large single-file .exe version was hosted here by donation only... as it is DAMNED difficult to keep that version of GWX 3.0 available in more than one medium/location... if that is the case. I've been working too much in RL to really be in touch with every detail concerning GWX matters of late.)

At any rate, as GWX seems to be the most widely-used U-boat mod... it is an honor to be in a position to help the community that its builders and contributors were drawn from.

Damn this sounds ugly.. Still I want to believe GWX will rebirth awhile after SH5 release. All what's left now is hope. Heh, silly but this is the rare time when I truely want to know the future. Wide uncertainty just slowly kills me :\ Sad..

All good things must eventually come to an end my friend.;)

Venatore (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/member.php?u=216505), was not knocking GWX, if you read my post. It says "YES, I HAVE VISTA(IT SUCKS)...refering to VISTA not GWX.

I hope that clears up that mis communication.

I can't say the GWX sucks since I have not had the opportunity to play it since I cannot load, ergo the reason for the post. I have tried several of the procedures I find here but nothing is working.

I am asking for assistance to know the proper procedure for loading the game, mods and GWX in the order someone with VISTA 32 home premium has used with success.

MOPY,
I have already extracted it. I click the icon and it starts, goes through 50% of the download, then it says the "SOURCE" is corrupt ABORT< RETRY<IGNORE

hope this helps with the description of my problems

ok. Vista is a tricky b*tch but here are the steps

first off, completely remove your existing SH3 from your hard drive and delete all of your GWX3.bin /exe files etc. to start completely fresh

Install Silent Hunter 3 outside of program files. (when you install, the default path is C:/ Program Files/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 3

You should change the path to read "C:/[Folder Name of your choice]/Silent Hunter 3"

for example... i have chosen "C:/Kriegsmarine/Silent Hunter 3

now...

patch to version 1.4b

once you have completed these steps, create a folder on your desktop entitled "GWX Install"

once you have done that

download the following files from this link location

http://www.filefront.com/user/ConningTower

GWX3-1.bin
GWX3-2.bin
GWX3-3.bin
GWX3-4.bin
GWX3-5.bin
GWX3-6.bin
GWX3-7.bin
GWX3.exe

save those files to the desktop folder you created called "GWX3 Install"

Once you have done this

open the folder called "GWX3 Install" and run the GWX3.exe file, make sure you point the installer to your game path where you have chosen to install SH3 outside of program files

the installation process is automatic and takes a few minutes, once the installation is complete you are now upgraded to GWX3

@ Kpt. Lehmann

thanks for the clarification... all of those old memories run together after a while!

Notwithstanding thanks to all above for their very helpful contributions.

et1sw1064.....there is another way if it is easier for you.

PM me your details and I (or one or two others who have a copy) will mail you the single file executable for GWX3.0 on a DVD.

After reading this thread I realized that it had been a while since I last made a donation.

Subsim is the only forum that I am a member of because of our GREAT Modders and Neal's Subsim's friendly atmosphere. If it were no longer around a big part of my leisure time would go to hell.

The Subsim forum is like a friend to me and I support it by donation, by purchases (T Shirt, Mug & Calendar).

Due to the economy I may not be able to donate as much as I would like to but any amount donated helps. A dime from one person is not very much but a die from 100 people is a lot.

I would like to express my thanks to all of the members of this forum. I am up and running, rather sailing.

I greatly appreciate all the feedback, ideas and comments here and the help I received.
