Just to make sure there isn't a problem, are you seeing friendly ships in harbour and sailing about when you set out for your patrol?

Good question!

New users may enable the Med and Indian Ocean Campaign files without knowing that they will remove all scripting in the Atlantic.

What MODS do you have enabled OP?

If you are playing the Atlantic portion, sail to AM 52 or BF 17 during the start of the war. Always something coming in in these areas for me.

There are periods in this simulation that enemy ships are rather hard to come by. Sometimes you can spend a whole patrol at sea and only see the ships in the harbor when your leaving and coming home. Having said that, I usually head for the nearest port if Im not finding any enemy ships. Ive always found that the ships in port respond to my presence and head back out to sea. Also I don't think that you would be attacked by aircraft if there was something wrong. It seems more than likely a matter of not being in the right place at the right time.
As Jim would say "Be more aggressive!!!".

1) Activate the combined campaign mod in JSGME
2) Download and activate from the Subsim download section, Jimbuna's Spy Sat mod: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=157 and use this to get accustomed to the game.

Just wondering when you have installed GWX3 do you go to JSGME and activate all the installed mods or do you leave them ?

Only activate the mods of your choice after you have installed GWX3.0 because:

a) you won't have JSGME to enable your mods with (comes with GWX3.0)

b) you won't have the parent mod to enable them in.

Does GWX3 give map contact updates because I havent seen one at all and I have done loads of patrols :-?

you havent activated the special campaign mods, have you? because those remove everything outside their respective areas.

One thing you may want to try is activating mods one at a time. That way if one gives you an problem, you know which one it was and can bypass it. I'm no mod guru by any stretch, but this has helped me get the most out of the mods that my system can handle.

Good advice. All the included mods with GWX3.0 have been extensively tested and are compatible with GWX3.0. A small number of people have had a problem with the enhanced damage mod when used with some non-GWX mods, but if you don't overwrite the GWX files, most mods will work with GWX3.0.
Mods that add new ships can cause a problem, however.
