Would be great, but what's gonna happen if you're attacked by aircrafts? :dead:

I would assume that you are referring to the anti-mine tactic of the crew being outside the hull and kneeling on the top deck while departing or returning from a patrol?

Lack of clarification in the original post leaves much to be desired.

If that is what you are referring to, I voted completely against this. Frame rates are bad enough in a harbor without adding something else for the computer to figure out. Keep the focus on gameplay, and if we need more eye candy, make it something relevant to the focus of the game.

Sailing in and out of a harbor is painful enough as it is without throwing some more sprites into the mix.

I think he just meant having the crew standing at attention when entering and leaving port, or having men handling the lines.

I clicked the second option, "live without it". I would like to see it, but your options cross over a little.

Second option, then third as a backup.

I wonder if it is so hard to do for the devs. I mean the commando,s in front of the deck in sh-4 could be placed in front and behind the conning tower and put some more on there than 3 or 4. Then all they need is the u-boat uniforms. Maybe this could be done by giving a entering port command

It would be nice if, after sinking a capital ship, you could be able to send a special message to BdU and have a special welcome when entering port.

IMHO, I think that crews on deck was mostly done as propaganda-type photo-ops and not some kind of standard procedure... unless perhaps The Lion himself was going to be there dockside... correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was only ceramonial to have crews-on-deck.:arrgh!:

If memory serves, didn't they have these waaayyyy back in Aces of the Deep when your boat sailed into port? White tonnage pennants for the merchants, and red for capital ships?

That's something, while not integral, I'd like to see make a return to the game.

To have a few men man the rails when entering and leaving port would be nice.

Also would be nice to have some variety in the greeting at the dock.
This could be achieved with the less is best principle.

Like if you have zero tonnage, no band, no nurses. :shifty:

X ammount of tonnage activates the band :salute:
XX ammount of tonnage activates nurses :D

I agree.

BTW, I saw your "goodbye" post. Seriously, don't let the Das Boot fanbois who know nothing get to you. All that does is add one more nail to the simulation coffin.
