No definitely not. I use to like the WWF but I was like ten at the time (25+ years ago).

As far as I am concerned 'Wrestling' is the male equivalent of soap operas (and bad soaps at that).

As a high school wrestler i resent my sport being referred to as a soap opera. Furthermore, Tv shows such as wwf and TnA are mockeries of what the sport really is and anyone who refers to such shows as wrestling have no clue what wrestling is really about . Sorry, no intention to flame just sticking up for my sport.

me and my buddies used to do WWE wrestling on a trampoline, we used to take the time out to figure out how to do the bone crusing moves without crushing any bones haha. I just kinda fazed out of it, it became uninteresting.

Maybe you need to be a high school English student. He put it in quotes: 'wrestling'. That indicates that he meant to point out that it's not real wrestling.

Perhaps personal attacks are against the Sub Sim rules

Attack? You expressed resentment erroneously. I merely pointed out that fact.

There is a big gap between wrestling and the crap you see on the tube.

Debate ended. :salute:

i believe steamwake said it best. correcting grammar or other mistakes is bad netiquette; therefore, can be considered a personal attack. Also my comment about wrestling was directed at no poster, but perhaps i should of clarified that.
Ill leave my rant at that.

I'm an on and off wrestling fan. I used to be a HUGE WWF fan up till the end of the "Attitude" era. I lost interest when they bought out WCW and it seemed that the writing REALLY went downhill as they tried to fit all those new workers from WCW into RAW and Smackdown. WWE right now does nothing for me. I like my wrestling on the comic book side of things and it seems that WWE has turned it's back on that completely. The new wrestlers really don't have any cool or interesting gimmicks or character anymore. When I turn on WWE, it seems like instead of cool battles between larger than life characters, what we get is "Parade of D-Bags"

TNA on the other hand is much more up my alley right now. Vince Russo who was the head writer for WWE during the "Attitude" era is the head writer for TNA. TNA also has that "Comic book" feel that I like.

Also, If you're a wrestling fan, and want to play something interesting and fun, check out Extreme Warfare Revenge, and Total Extreme Wrestling 2005. Both are freeware and have a large communiy that is always keeping their wrestler databases up to date with pretty much EVERYTHING in the wrestling world. They are basicly Wrestling Promotion Sims, but they are incredibly detailed and fun. I prefer Extreme Warfare Revenge, but I play TEW2005 for it's multiplayer capability. These games are the games I'm usually playing when I'm not playing a subsim. :DL

You can get both games here: http://www.ewbattleground.com/
Also, if you go into their forums, there's a message board area called TEWR. In there, you can find stat updates, and other addons as well as a really cool fan base.
You can download a LOT of stat updates, mods, and pic packs for both games here: http://www.ewinventory.com/ew.html

If you try them, and get lost, just PM me and I'll give you a hand with them. :DL

Wrestlers-kicking ass since AristotleI'm pretty sure that, using the acronyms "WWE" and "TNA" in the very TITLE OF THIS THREAD made it quite clear that the context was in the sense of the enterprise of ENTERTAINMENT labelled as wrestling, and not the sport you played in highschool.

It seems only prudent to consider the meaning behind a post well-before taking offense to it. Anything else is, well, highschool drama-queen-esqu. :ping:

I'll flick it on when it's on and watch it. Since Ric Flair retired and Undertaker hasnt got much gas left in him, there hasnt been much of a willingness for me to follow it.

I like that Vladimir Kozlov dude though. He looks like a beast.

Sailor Steve was quite correct, I was not referring to Olympic style wrestling. That is why I surrounded the word wrestling in single quotation marks, which are referred to as ironic or scare quotes. They indicate that the word is not being used in a standard manner; in this case that that which is called wrestling in this thread is not real wrestling.

He simply pointed out that you did not understand what I had written, which isn't correcting your grammar. It wasn't a personal attack as frankly you could do with spending a bit more time in English class if you do not yet fully understand how quotation marks are used.

Further you were obviously referring to my first post in this thread as I was the only one who had compared 'Wrestling' to a soap opera, which is what you took offense to.

As a high school wrestler i resent my sport being referred to as a soap opera.

Anyhow this post isn't a personal attack against you. Nor was my first post a personal attack against anyone for liking 'Wrestling', as there are plenty of people who like soap operas too.

I C I started a little fire storm up in here. :O: Pro wrestling isn't for everybody but I allways enjoyed it. I like the science of it and watching the wrestlers call the moves to each other in the corners and stuff. That's the parts you really have to watch for. It's kinda like figure skating you have to tell your next move to your dance partner in a rather violent way.:03:

Like some of you have mentioned, I think the current state of WWE is sad in a way.:nope: I like some of the talent but the product is lacking from the days of old. Bring back Macho man Randy savage Oh yeah!!!!!lol....
On a serious note though if I C Randy orton and John cena 1 on 1 - 1 more time I might vomit..

TNA is a fun like comic book wrestling story that is fun. I think the only thing their missing is the money to market properly to compete with Vince and the WWE.

This is my take on it anyway,

Wrestling had finally reached the culmination of how I thought it should be the day that Kane came out, shot lightning out of his hands and blew up the commentator's desk, and then shot lightning out of his hands, setting a cameraman at ringside on fire !!

A logical next step for me would be a levetation performed ! :DL

(On a side note, when I play Extreme Warfare Revenge, or TEW2005, I'm ALWAYS gunning to put WWE and their "parade of D-bags" out of business. I even stole John Cena from them and renammed him D-Bag in my promotion and then started jobbing him to my lower-carders. He wasn't very happy working for me. :DL I may even go in and edit my modern day databases to give WWE a new show called "Parage of D-Bags".)
