Last night while patrolling south of Pelu we caught a radar contact sailing more or less south at medium speed.

We go about setting up a shot and work our way into position... update... that medium speed? Turns out to be like 15 knots :o

After a short while a visual sighting of a Nomi PB cruising south. We get into position and lay in wait.

Not long now only a few miles when... The doggone PB makes a turn to the west :damn: He is too close to surface so we alter course to sail out of visual range, we would never catch them while submerged.

When out of his visual range we surfaced went to flank and ran a parallel course to get into position..... again....

Well I got a little impatient and put the TC up to 16x while trying to get ahead of the PB.

Of couse my wife had something to discuss right about this time so while chatting to her and not paying attention "Were taking damage sir !". The darned PB had turned south again straight for us  guns blazing.

Crash dive, .... sigh... not only did we not get the shot but got chased off.

The PB spent several hours circling the spot so we moved out to the south a ways... I think they are still there circling :rotfl2:

Ive seen pickets patrol harbor entrances in their little patterns but I've never seen a PB out on open ocean sail straight for like 60 miles then suddenly make a 90 degree turn, sail 60 miles, then make another turn.
