I guess the neighbors of the balloon boy area are getting fed up with the trolling media with nothing better to do and blocking the streets.

That damn ballon story was old after the first 15 minutes. Why it is still on the news is beyond me. I can understand why the man is pissed but call the cops. If they are blocking him then they will be blocking emergency vehicles also. They have become a safety hazard.

The best quote I've heard regarding the balloon boy:

"I heard that there was a little boy stuck in this balloon drifting in the sky, and my first thought was that Michael Jackson was placing an order for delivery to heaven"

You know what is really screwed up..

Shortly after that, police arrived. The neighbor was cited for fighting in public and careless driving.

You get jumped by some dimwit and you aren't allowed to defend yourself if the media is involved. :x

Freak about covers it.

"Heene believes the world is going to end in 2012," she said. "Because of that, he wanted to make money quickly, become rich enough to build a bunker or something underground, where he can be safe from the sun exploding." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_balloon_boy
Seriously, I wonder how much more of this "Mayan Calender says the world is ending in 2012" bunk we're gonna have to endure between now and January 1st 2013?

Water balloons filled with paint or fish oil would deal with the media.

Speaking of prophecy...
Has anyone noticed how for some reason, The History Channel seems to get completely taken over by crackpots every weekend ? Instead of interesting history stuff, we get bombarded with UFO's, Bigfoot, Nostradamus prophecies, Conspiracy stuff, Knights Templar (pretty much focussing on the conspiracy theorist version of them instead of the actual historical data..), The Davinci Code, The Illuminati, etc...

I don't mind a documentary or so about this stuff once in a while, but ALL their shows on the weekend become that crap !!!
This ends my rant. I now return you to "The Balloon Boy Chronicles".

The irony is that 15-20 years ago when THC, TLC, A&E and Discovery were first being broadcast (you know, back before they went completely moonbat on us), people were predicting that these niche channels would be the end of public broadcasting. Seems hilarious now. At least I can still get decent science and history programming on PBS, although the pledge, beg and grovel drives are still a pain. THC on the other hand, has degenerated into The Hysteria Channel and the others aren't far behind. They're just playing to the lowest common denominator for ratings purposes at this point.

Errr, does that guy not realize that if the sun were to explode a bunker would be the least of his worries. But regardless, the Sun does not have enough mass to go nova, but during its red giant phase it will engulf the Earth.

As for this story, nothing really interesting happened so meh.

When garbage programming gets higher ratings than everything else it tells us something about ourselves. Balloon boy stories or garbage reality TV get higher ratings than anything that could actually educate us or inform us of what's happening in the world. It's pretty sad when you think about what is says about our society.

You get jumped by some dimwit and you aren't allowed to defend yourself if the media is involved.
The citation for affray is normal and the police will throw them in as standard just to cover their arse, but as his actions there when he was out of his vehicle cannot be described as unlawful as they were reasonable he won't get convicted.

Careless driving on the other hand, he is buggered there(if they follow the case). Attempting to drive onwards when your path is not clear is careless driving, he is lucky they didn't throw in dangerous driving and reckless endangerment too.
So the question is if this does get followed up does the State have mandatory sentencing on driving charges or are they discresionary?
