The DVD is on wide release here in the UK under the title "Admiral" and is priced at about £7.99, pretty reasonable. I have bought it but have not yet had time to watch it from what I've seen in trailers etc the effect look great.

Is that about Russo-Japanese War, Russian Revolution, or WWI? I can't even tell... :hmmm: It seems it was during of the revolution.

WO I and the end of the monarchy
Thanks for the tip off. Its available on Amazon in UK for about £5.
I watched it last night. I wouldn't take to much notice of the history, but the production values were high. Visually it looked very good and it was refreshing to see a movie depicting this era and not out of the Hollywood stable.
Worth it just for the WW1 naval scenes. :DL

I have seen it and have it in original Russian.
It is a good movie but I bet you are feeling it seems a bit jumpy when it goes to different periods of his life?
I will enlighten you.
Admiral has been filmed as a drama series for ORT. They then have cut the most salient parts from the series and edited it into a film. That's why it feels as if a bit of back story is missing.
I'm hoping to try and get the series on DVD though that will be tough.
Production values are high but then the Russians have never been bad at making historical films with all their costumes and sets. Also it is a revisionist view of Kolchak. During the soviet era he was held up as an example of Tsarist filth.
