Did anyone ever use the MS SideWinder Strategic Commander to take control of the Uboats ?

I bought this device nearly 10 years ago and never used it. Now I made some tests and it worked well. The amount of immersion increases, because you can give orders nearly blind, all lights dimmed, using only mouse and Strategic Commander. No need to use the keyboard and searching keys during attack.

You know, I saw those years ago and thought they were cool, but never played enough RTS games to justify one. Do retailers still carry them?

No, but in ebay they are offered from time to time.

Similar Commander type controller gamepads are currently available from:-

Belkin: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=390404

Logitech: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/5123&cl=us,en

Saitek: http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/cyborgcommand.htm

Have been using the Belkin Nostromo series for several years on strategy and heavily keyboard dependant simulation programs like SH3, Oblivion, M2TW etc. with complete success.

Not an essential purchase and maybe not entirely suitable for left handers, but one that has made my gaming experience far easier and much more pleasurable .
