There were 2 games on the Genesis that i distinctly remember 1) Warriors of Rome II and 2) P.T.O. (Pacific Theater of Operations).
PTO wasn't eye candy, but it's gameplay was just fantastic, would take weeks just to finish a game. you could design ur own ships and mod classes with better engines, weapons armor. you could even redesign the aircraft. you could name the ships whatever you liked. The ps2 had an updated version called PTO4, but that wasn't as good imo, plus the american confirmation sounds made our boys sound like they came straight from a Village People tour. creepy. anyone else remember this one on the genesis? i've never run into anyone who knew of it. Koei was the company that made it.

Ya though I remember it from super nes. 2 was good as well a long with uncharted waters and most of the other koei games from the period

Yep, P.T.O. 1&2 on the SNES. Possibly the best games I ever played. Spend a lot of time playing those, more than any other game.

For some reason I've never been able to find anything about PTO3, it's almost as if they just skipped it. 4 looked horrible, didn't bother. :hmmm:

Wow, I thought I was the only one in the civilised world who played PTO years ago.

Good game, I still have that corny Hawaiin music stuck in my head, and the Daaaa-da-da-da-daaaaaaa music when at sea. I played it till my eyes bled. Use to play multiplayer with some of my more feebleminded friends. I'd hunt em down, and sink whole fleets with my Jap carrier fleet.

None of the later PTOs were any good.

The second best SNES game was called super conflict, a hex based miltary strtegy game, similar to panzer general.

that reminds me richard, I used to always play the japanese. I don't even know why, it's the only game where I sought to play the "bad guys"
