How many varies by ship type and class.

Yes they can run out.

I've nrver used External View or Free Camera, so who carries how many was never an issue for me.

In my experience, they usually give up before running out - so quite a few :P

They do run out yes, but the amount they carry is generally unrealistic, as in too many. And if they do run out but you haven't given them the slip they will still circle around above until they lose you. They did that in real life anyway, as a sub would have to surface after a while due to air / battery supply.

I've had two destroyers depth charge me for 5 hours then they just stopped within about 1/2 hour of each other they didn't move away but continued to make their attack runs. I just came to periscope depth and blew them out of the water, very satisfying

Did you know that most destroyers when down with so many hands because for the depth charges going off as the ship sank. This was put down to just hit and sunk but when an admirals ship started going down the crew had to turn all the depth charges off and then it became standard procedure.

This is quite jarring in the case of fleet destroyers.
Those usually didn't carry more than 50-80 depth charges, so they can keep throwing junk at you for a lot longer in GWX than they should be able to.


Dedicated escort vessels - frigates, corvettes, destroyer escorts - often carried arond 150 depth charges since fighting off submarines was their main job.

River class frigates in the Atlantic were equipped with up to 150 DC's but only about 50 in the Pacific. The numbers vary in GWX by the class of escort.

As a rough average the racks carry approximately 40 each and the K guns 15.

If that is the case, that is just 5 volleys with the k's, yea? They seem to fire off three to five at a time on each side. Or was that 15 per side of the k?
