hi ya all. i'm a newbie and haven't found any comments on this before, and probably couldn't be done in rl, but i've noticed that during
a destroyer attack, if you raise yr obs 'scope, you can actually see her coming and the depthcans as they sink towards you, then it's not too difficult to evade them. i usually do this between 40-80 mts depth.
works best in daylight but even at night, if they use their
searchlights, you know where they'll come from. i guess in rl pressure
and darkness prevented this practice.

yup, saved my life many times. it gets a little boring doing it for three hours straigt in 43, after i sunk all the escorts had to protect, so i guess they had no reason to return...

Welcome abord.

This topic has been discussed at quite some length. The common agreement seems to have been that it wasent done.

Its been my experience that if you see a can comming its usually too late to 'evade' because your submerged and the turn rate and acceleration rate is just too slow.

i play(ed) an IXB and i found that it was just enough to get unharmed at some depth, so unless they came from behind you, you were fine...
