Okay, if this is posted anywhere I apologize. However, I just whipped out the old Windows calculator, and as of right now, these Subsim forums are home to 1,049,891 posts.

That's right - over ONE MILLION POSTS!!! The Radio Room flourishes!!!

Now I don't want to make Mr. Neal Stevens blush, but this is absolutely incredible! Post your Subsim stories here for posterity, and please join me in congratulating Neal and Subsim on cracking his first MILLION!

:arrgh!::arrgh!::arrgh!::arrgh!::arrgh!::arrgh!:

Get the calc out again and start counting the archived post.:haha: Bet you missed them, here's a LINK (http://www.subsim.com/phpBB_archive1/index.php?sid=7d6151a08d62c2af24a68336dec6367a).

Also, if I'm not mistaken there were forum entries even before those but have since been lost.

Anyway, I reckon SS passed 1 million years ago.

Also, why the Calc? The post count is at the bottom of the main forum page. :)

And the old forum doesn't count. Cuz I said so.

Still, with people celebrated their 500th, 1000th, 2000th, etc., posts, Subsim's cracking a million should be a big deal - at least in my opinion.

There was time where the future of sub sim and hence this site looked bleak.

But ever since Silent Hunter III game publishers finally reckon that submarine simulation has a huge faithful followers but they missed the point that good game design is a prerequisite to successful selling especially with the usually more demanding simulation audience hence they came out with Silent Hunter IV. One or two more titles like that and submarine simulation publishers can see over half of their potential customers quitting their sub sim hobby. It's not about coming out with what gamers want but rather to make the gamers wanting the game! Setting trends rather following them is the mantra of hugely successful story.

As for me I'm hooked since the day of sub command. I admit the majority of sub simmers here play only Silent Hunter series.:DL

My subsim story goes like this...

Once... in the middle of some foggy North Atlantic night while on patrol, i decided i wanted more out of Silent Hunter 3.

better graphics, more ships, better weather engine etc etc

so i googled "Mods for Silent Hunter 3"

and bam

located this jewel of a place.

My first Silent Hunter 3 mod was Rub 1.45 back in January of 2006, from there i tinkered with various mods for about a year before joining the forum and settling in with the Grey Wolves mod which eventually became GWX.

Subsim.com forums has been a daily visit for me for 3 years and 7 months running (save the occasional power / internet outage or vacation) , I have made several friends here, met many of them at the subsim meet last year... i do not expect my membership here to end voluntarily any time soon.

hmmm, how DID I get here.

well, I remember getting a copy of SHIII, and I was looking at it's wikipedia page, just for laughs. And at the bottom, in the links section, it said "SUBSIM.com, a website dedicated to submarine simulations, including Silent Hunter III"
and I was like, oooh, so I lurked for a day, liked the place and joined up. precisely a day before I started the worst relationship of my life. So I will always hold this place near and dear to me.

here's to another million or so!:yeah:

I had purchased 688i Hunterkiller when it went gold (Around the time Sub Command came out) and one day, after finishing the campaign and had played through the single missions, I finally decided to make some of my own. I also wanted to see if any missions existed that other players had made. So I got on the "Dogpile" search engine and searched for "688i Hunterkiller Scenarios". Bam ! I found this site and found links to LOTS of missions ! I was hooked on 688i, but through the message boards here, I learned that Sub Command had just been released. I thought "A SEQUEL !!! ALL RIGHT !!!" And then I had Sub Command (after a LONG search. Pretty much NO stores in my area carried it and back then, ordering online was a bit taboo for me). Of course, after I grabbed Sub Command, I needed player made scenarios and such...

Back to Subsim. I've been here ever since, lurking for most of the time, but I really value this resource. I can't say that enough ! No other sub sim site is as well maintained, and offers so many features. (Subguru is a nice seccond IMHO).

Think I joined to reply to a question about SH4. :hmmm: Those days of trying to be helpfull are gone though, all I do now is spam, and maybe make an attempt to keep the "General Games Discussion" up to date with a bit of news.

Visited here before that though, learned about GWX for SH3 on here, kept lurking a bit and eventually registered.

This is becoming kind of like the sticky thread with members' bios and how you found subsim, but I've got a few hours to kill so I'll jump in.

I bought SH4 at Wal-Mart because I hadn't played a subsim since U-Boat and Wolfpack, though I had always been a big U-boat enthusiast.

What brought me here was an incredibly stupid problem; I couldn't figure out how to make my torpedoes just go straight. It didn't take long for someone to point out that I had automatic inputs enabled:oops:

I eventually moved to the GT forums once I had my hunting style as perfected(hydro-hunting and no TDC FTW:rock:) as I could get it, and I never left. Since then, I've had the opportunity to converse with and even meet a lot of great people, and I even got to help restore the USS Cavalla.

Thanks, Neal:salute:
