I am playing SH4 patched to 1.5 with TMO 1.7 installed.
Ok so I got the orders to free hunt while on the Japanese coast and I decided to try and make a run into Tokyo bay. I had tried it before and had been sunk on 4 previous occasions (I know not the smartest move)
I kept checking depth under keel, with barely turning screws I got past the first destroyer picket. It took me about an hour of real time and used compression lightly because I did not want to bungle it.
After I get in the bay, it was at night so I pop my periscope to take a quick look and spot 2 Cruisers anchored and a destroyer in the distance.
I creep up, pop up again and from about 1000 meters let looses 6 Torpedoes at one cruiser, then turn full ahead and let loose on the other cruiser.
The first Cruiser went down , the second one did not (all fish missed somehow, probably ran under ship) and started with its spotlights trying to find me.
I used the same way out as i used on the way in and this time the destroyer picket (way on the outside of the bay) dropped some charges , luckily I was already in deep water and I was able to make some hard turns and avoid too much damage. I got away and then surfaced with under 10% battery left, recharged. saved game. I was very, very, very lucky, if I try ten more times I might not do it again. I saved game.
I went on to create 3 more saves after that in the same session (found and sunk an 8000 ton merchant, saved one when I found her, when I approached and after I sank her).
I then stop for the night.
Today, when I tried to reload the saved game, the 4 saved games after the cruiser was sunk will not load and I get a crash to desktop with the send windows the error message . The saved games previous to the cruiser being hit (even the one right before when I fired the first salvo of 6 torps) work just fine.
Does anyone know why this happened?
