Ha, oh so superior.

Can't say I have ever had a data loss of any kind when upgrading WinXP.

Anyone whom doesent back up their data prior to a major upgrade is begging for trouble.

But yea.... oops

As to 'never loosing data during a windows upgrade' I can personally say bunk.

All it takes is for a install to hang halfway through for whatever reason and your left with a paper weight instead of a hard drive.

So back it up !

If you are saying that an operating system upgrade caused your hard disk to fail completely, such that it could not be re-formatted, I would say that you should NOT be installing said software with a hammer.

The only ways to toast a hard disk (of ANY computer type) is to bang it particularly hard with a large phsyical object, or to pass a very powerful magnet near it (like one out of the monitor) or to turn it off whilst its firmware is being wiped. None of these happen during an operating system upgrade.

Although, if your comments were meant humourously, then haha, yes, you portrayed yourself sufficiently as someone that has no clue about PC hardware. I laugh at your portrayal of someone very stupid. Well done.

Well gee thanks for the compliment

All I meant was that if an install of winders hangs for whatever reason halfway into the install the drive will have to be reformatted and all data lost.

But hey your an expert right you know that. :shifty:

The fact that Ive been building, maintaining, pc's and networks for the last 20 years clearly displays my lack of knowledge.

What you meant and what you said are two different things. You SAID that installing windows could cause a permanent failure in your hard disk, such that it was rendered as useful as a paper weight. This is clearly not right and portrays a falsely detrimental picture of the Windows suite of software.

But hey your an expert right you know that. :shifty:

Yes, I know what you said was a vast over exageration and not at all true in any way.

The fact that Ive been building, maintaining, pc's and networks for the last 20 years clearly displays my lack of knowledge.

When you say 20 years - is that another over exageration? What network were you maintaing in 1989? Sorry to 'call your bluff' but as you have agreed with me that installing Windows cannot destroy your hard disk in the manner that you previsouly described, I really don't know why you are now having a go at me?

Well regardless of who has lost what, the Mac brigade can no longer bang on about how their OS is so cool and doesn't screw up.

They never could to begin with, they just don't talk about all the problems mac has. Those mac pc attack ads on are full of a lot of lies, exaggerations, and half truths.

No doubt but Iknow a few Maccies who don't know this and are adamant the Mac is the best.

Anyway I thought it was a good laugh.

Macs are so **** people don't even bother making viruses for them, they consider them punishment enough.:D

Only thing I'd like to have from Mac is the transparent backgrounds in programs, for example in Photoshop (i.e. everything that isnt part of the workarea is transparent or you can add your own image to it).

Then again, I'd propably have hot nekkid chick in the background, so instead of getting anything done I'd wank 'till I bleed. :hmmm:

Win7 has that, Vista too probably... I shouldn't have told you that.

As a Mac user, I've never complained that my machine never screws up. It just screws up a lot less.

I actually prefer Windows because of the software support, but when my Windows gets screwed to hell, like it is right now, I always have my Mac partition to fall back on. That's what I'm typing this post on, and when I have the time and patience, I can restore my Windows partition with Time Machine, even though it is completely non-functional now (malware problem, my fault.:damn:)

Still, I'd like to brag about how my desktop computer is a flatscreen monitor:cool::DL

Maybe it was you calling him stupid that did it?

I never called him stupid. Learn to read, perhaps? I said that if he did not mean his comments (a bad install of windows can physically destroy your hard disk) seriously, but instead humourously, then I applauded him on his impression of a very stupid person. He responded saying that he did not mean his comments seriously as he infact said that a bad install of windows did not in fact destroy your hard disk.

Actually, I'd like to withdraw my previous comment of 'learn to read' as you obviously can read, yet you do so with wild abandon for said writings and you wish to post things that are contrary to the meaning of the thread. In which case, learn to make a positive difference, yeah?

Why on Earth would you state that someone said that someone else was stupid? That's a stupid thing to do. Unless you want to cause disharmony of course...

That's right I can't read. As a matter of fact i'm not even reading your rather tardy attempt at backpedaling right now... :yeah:

You apparently can't, as I withdrew my comment of 'learn to read' in the body of the text above, that you didn't/couldn't/pretended not to be able to/ read above.

Well done again for not adding anything positive!
