It begs the question, to what purpose to ride a bike in this fashion in a competition? Is this a new Olympic sport? I'm at a loss trying to understand why these two are in a gymnastics uniform and there is a auditorium of people watching this activity. :hmmm:

What purpose has it to drive a car around an oval for 500 miles?:O:

That was my next question. NASCAR makes no sense. European Championship? Championship of what? I do not get it. Did someone wake up one day and say, "Let's ride bikes backwards, make a competition out of it and sell T-shirts."?

Apparently a local German sport? I have only seen things like BMX here in the US with free form stunts. To each their own I guess.

Normally a question ends with a "?" Just like my question. Baseball here is called "The World Series" Has any baseball professionally been played in Germany? Specifically the world series? All right then. :03: The world loves a wise guy. It still makes no sense to me.

I've always wondered why the US compete in the football World Cup when they call the game soccer and have actually zero chance of ever winning it http://imgcash4.imageshack.us/img144/3336/tonguecm5.gif

I don't see why it should be more senseless than any other sport.:06:
Actually sport is senseless. It's always just a competition to find out who is the best within some rules. If you want really senseless sport, have a look at this::D

Is sitting a sport? If it is done on a pole does it make it a sport? If sitting is a sport then I the most active mofo in the world. I sit all day! Agreed, there are just some activities that are considered sports when in reality it does not make any sense.

Since it does take place in Poland, it can just hope that "Pole-Sitting" isn't referring to the people :rotfl2:

Because we thought it was "football" and taken by surprise when we got there and found out it was actually "kickball", a game us Yanks played in elementary school. So it's a bit of nostalgia for us, brings back childhood memories of games we played without risk of injury, like most girls sports.
And it gives us an opportunity to interface with the brits and ask them long unanswered questions.

I think we can all agree that dancing is a sport.....so if it's done on a pole, does that constitute pole dancing as a sport? :hmmm::DL

there are plenty of much more stupid things being turned into competitions and world championships than this, and this needs skill, training, and physical fitness, and certainly is much more graceful to watch than seeing people trying to devour as many hamburgers in five minutes as possible, or checking how much chilly they can eat before the burn makes their cardiovascular system collapsing, or silly beauty contests, or who painted his poodle more colourful than all the others, or cage fighting, or... well, there is plenty of much more stupid things that they hold championships about.
On the cycling, to me it is as much sports as it is artistry. Impressive.
