"From another thread"...Malfunctions and Sabotage enabled in SH3 commander. This simulates (amongst other things) the inability of the engines to produce flank power.

Ok, so Im running flank speed after decimating two French cargo ships just west of Gibraltar. I notice that my IIb is only pulling around 8 knots tops. Have I broken something or is there a saboteur on board? Is it possible that something is wrong with my installation.. I just need an idea here before I trash the mission, trash the profile, and or trash the installation and start all over again.

Pop, sounds like you been sabotaged my friend......head for port, have the engines repaired, go to the bar and have a drink with Kapt Balz. The drinks are on him.....:()1:.........:har:

Hah... I thought so, I wonder which one of those low life bottom feeding bilge rats did it...Ill have him keal hauled.:arrgh!:
:/\\chop
Thanks for the drink, I needed that.

One more question, can you repair sabotage at sea? I finished my patrol up after using all my fish and cruised over to the Thalia to refuel. Next patrol engines were up and running and everything seems fine so Im guessin that it was sabotage or a malfunction of some sort.

8 knots? Are you recharging your batteries? Even so you should be doing at least 14 unless your not fully crewed.

In heavy weather, with battery recharging on, in a Type II you may only pull 8 knots.

Check to see if you're at standard propulsion or recharging mode.

If on standard propulsion, still only getting 8 knots, then yes probably sabotage or malfunction.

Unfortunately due to game limitations this cannot be repaired at sea.

But hell, at least return to port and start a new patrol before you consider a reinstall. :DL

Sabotage/malfunctions can only be repaired whilst in port.

Same goes for your investigation into the sabotage.

The strange part is not your speed, it's your range!
West of Gilbraltar in a typeII !! :O:

My home port is Wilhelmshaven though I did refuel at the Thalia. I don't cruse at flank speed and really do keep an eye on how much diesel Im burning off. The fishing is really good down by Gibraltar, many French ships just dying to be sent to the locker.
These boats really do get out there pretty good when you travel at ahead slow and maybe ahead 1/3rd tops. I also still take the shortcut through the English Channel as well. I know everyone says this is a nono but, I usually use this route till early 1941 (when the merchants get guns). While I don't do a lot of fishing in the English Channel I do have to say that I have had some luck at blasting merchants and sneaking away underwater, with the parascope down so that they cant tell the destroyer what heading I left on.
Realism is set to 98% as well. Having said that I did get stranded in the middle of the Atlantic back when I first started... that sucked.

:down:Ok, I thought I had this beat but it seems like this error has surfaced yet again. This time it only does it when Im pushing flank underwater. I can only draw 4 knots... and it should be around 8 for the IIB that Im campaigning with. Lemme know what you think, guys.

Update:
Ok, I had to roll back my installation and replay two of my last patrols, also had a CTD, after which Im checking my installation today. Im hoping that its not some form of corruption. :nope:

Update II:
Ok rolled back my installation and went back to sub commander 3.0 (I think that was the source of my conflicts as I didn't have any trouble before I upgraded) reinstalled my mods plus the open hatch, and 3 or 4 others. I reset all my models once then set them back to where I had them. I start the game up hoping that it works... well no CTD, and played the whole patrol without running into any ships (Im thinking WTF?). So I head over to the nearest port in the North Sea... strolling up on the surface as I didn't think any ships would be in there. I was wrong, I got chased out by a destroyer, a Sub and an Armed Trawler.
Anyways, my game is up and working fine now and I only lost two patrols in the fix.
