Started my first patrol after practicing at the sub school for a few days.

December 8th , Tambor class 1941. On the way to the marshall Islands to await further orders , I spotted a Jpanese 1800 ton sub and sank it in a surface battle. I sustained damage at 84 hull. I then got my orders to sink enemy shipping and the next night (or a few nights later) I sank an 8300+ ton merchant ship (getting the torpedoes to hit was an adventure but 3 finally did hit) . My assingment from command then showed complete.
I sent a message to command and they told me to patrol anywhere I wanted or return to base.

I decided to return to base to fix hull, re arm and refuel

I went back to Midway but I am only getting re-arm refuel (which I did) it also looked like I could select postpone.
End patrol is greyed out and there is nothing for repairs.

QUESTION 1: How do I repair the hull of the ship (beyond what the crew did)?
QUESTION 2: When does the patrol end?
QUESTION 3: what does 84 hull damage mean? How does the scale work?

You will have to find a base with an anchor symbol that is canted about 45 degrees to the right, or at about 1 to 2 o'clock if your an aviation type.

Get there and you will be allowed to dock, and repair.

Great info!

how about the 84 hull damage or when the patrol ends?

sorry if it is in the manual but I have read it cover to cover twice and also did some searches on here, I guess I have missed it, any further help appreciated.

Hull damage of 84 is bad news amigo!
In this game 0 is undamaged, just bought, fresh out of the box, still shiny.
100 is totally destroyed.
I would RTB. Don't dive too deep on the way home!

Patrol ends when you run out of ammo or are getting low on gas, whichever comes first.
Then go back to your home port (slanted harbour icon).

Don't be surprised if ComSubPac throw the book at you for wrecking one of their shiny new fleet boats!

LOL! they gave me a new boat. I had to drop off an agent on my first mission 2nd patrol...it was quite nerve wracking going into shallow water for almost an entire night to get him off the boat then traverse it back the other way during the day......

Is there a Submariner's code to follow when attackign certain targets?

I ran into a 200 Ton fishing boat at night and was not quite sure if I should send them to the bottom or not...is that a viable target?

Historically they considered fishing boats fair game, since they were a big part of the food supply of the enemy. Mush Morton even machine-gunned japanese soldiers floating in the water.

It seems fishing boats can also radio your position to land based aircraft. I think that's another reason to take them out with the deck gun. But I usually avoid them as they aren't worth wasting ammo on.

blah, blah blah.... interesting but I'm not responding to that part:D...

Yeah, sink 'em all and let God sort 'em out....unless you tag the USS Essex. Then you're in deep ka-ka....

In command of a pick and bustin' rocks for the rest of the war, I'm your expert on how to sink your own navy!

Sink em' if they are in your way... they will radio in on you.
