Okay I sneak to within 1,000 yards of a convoys lead freighter. Escorts spot me so I let a spred of four loose blind and miss.
No prob escorts are still a bit off so Ill show them my tail and let another 4 loose. I don't dare pop scope so I have to do it blind! I click tube 4 and hit fire. "TDC cant compute that solution"
What solution just fire the friggen torpedo! I didn't use the TDC or the tracker so why wouldn't it fire?

You forgot to send your new periscope bearing. If you set speed zero and/or AoB zero or one-eighty in your TDC, the torpedo will zip up the bearing you choose if you are plus or minus 30º from the zero bearing for bow torpedoes or 180 for stern torpedoes. In real life those shots were considered straight fire. Gyro angles greater than +-30º were considered too range dependent.
Where am I going? Well, if you previously had bow torpedoes selected, you probably had a bearing in your TDC of somewhere between 330º and 30º. Now you've selected stern torpedoes. But they will attempt to reach the bearing in the TDC. The maximum gyro angle for a Mark 14 is 135º. If your bearing set in the TDC is 30º, for instance, your gyro angle will be 180-30=150º, outside the capability of the torpedo. Your game will prevent your wasting a torpedo by snidely remarking (:/\\!!) "TDC can't compute that solution." You may then curse colorfully as you see fit!:D Real sailors did that you know, and it's within legitimate parameters of simulation.:arrgh!:

Thanks, I did try 180' the periscope but I did not send anything to the TDC.
Also it says in the manual that you can clear your TDC by right clicking ????
Any idea how to do this?

Naw! Forget the manual unless you have a short leg on your desk. In the stadimeter mode of your TDC input dial (right side of the screen) you have the send bearing to TDC button. That's all you need to push to get that bearing to the TDC.

Why am I telling you this? YOU taught ME that back in August of 2007 when we were working on what became the Dick O'Kane Method.:haha:
Thanks for all your contributions to the game. You are a HUGE part of the revolution in manual targeting for fleet boats.
