Hia folks. Ive had my copy of sh4 since the day of release but never played it due to my really crappy pc. Ive recently upgraded my pc and remembered about my unused copy of sh4. so yesterday i installed it and it looks good so far I have all the graphics maxed out and it looks sweet. One major problem atm tho, i shall explain. Basically when im looking thru me periscope and im locked onto a target, i see no range info. Maybee im missing something really obvious but for the life of me i cant seem to be able to see where im going wrong. this is most fustrating cos i cant start my career till i have mastered all this type of stuff. because of this i cant attack any shipping cos i dunno how far away it is. Looking in the manual it says when im looking thru attack periscope i should be able to see the range of the ship but i cant. Also i have the game updated to version 1.2. Is this the lates patch or has there been more im unaware of? please help a very fustrated noob.

You must have the wing tabs closed... look for little tabs along the right side of your screen - then you can click on them and controls will fly in from the right. If you cannot find the tabs... then your screen resolution may need to go up. (I run 1280 x 960 for Ops Monsun)

Just a couple of possibilities... hope one them helps you out!

Assuming your using auto targeting... Yup a little tab on the upper right of the screen on either periscope or the Uzo.

Pull that tab out it is both the position keeper and the torpedo settings tab.

If you dont have auto targeting selected you will have to set those for yourself ;)

I see the 'tabs' you mean but i need to know the range of a ship when im looking thru my periscope. when i open the tabs im assuming the range part is for the tdc. When i used to play sh3, i could lock onto a target and a little box would come up telling me the range to target, so i could accuratley judge the distance to the target so i knew when to fire my torps. When i lock onto a target now i get no info, there is no little box or anything that tells me how far away my target is.

Latest patch for the original game is 1.4 ... the U-Boat add-on updates the game to 1.5.

Ok so i have 2 tabs on the right hand side one opens a box that lets me select torps and fire em and the other is a round 'box'. in the round one i have 3 options range, angle on bow, and speed. also a small anchor picture for returning to port etc. Under the range part i haveheight in feet, and range in yards etc but nothing that actually tells me how far away a target is. damn im annoyed this is doing me head in:damn:

Using Auto targeting, there is a tab on the LEFT side of the screen, click that. Now line up your scope on the intended target. The range to target will register on the left side, right next to where it says range. If you are doing manual targeting then it's a whole other process.

There's a guide :damn: I've just been pushing buttons and looking to see what happens. NEVER PUSH THE RED BUTTON in the Conning Tower, lost a torpedo that way once :nope:

u-212 on the range indicator thingy there's a switch or toggle that will give you the torpedo settings dooma-flatchy.
