Hi All again:DL
Sorry if exist another topic about magnetic exploder, but i cant find in mi sub the key to change to magnetic exploder!
I am using now the NSM4 and i want learn how to make a keel attack (broke ships in 2) :03:
But i cant find mi magnetic exploder ... any help?:D hoo, anyway if you can give me some tips how to make a good keel attack i appreciate:up:
Thanks All for this awesome forum:arrgh!::salute:
p.s: sorry mi english
Hi! About the magnetic exploder, first be sure the torpedo supports a magnetic influence exploder. I'm not sure if the early Mk 10's had one. Otherwise, when in either periscope or TBT view, there is a "slideing window" on the left hand side of the screen. Click the tab to expose the window. Here you will see the Position Keeper (PK). Below is a "lever/switch" to change for torpedo setup. Click this to reveal the torpedo setup info. Here you could set torpedo depth, spread angle, and at the top are two knobs to adjust both torpedo speed, and exploder type (contact or contact/influence). Hope that helps you out!

Hi:arrgh!:
Thank you very mutch for the information:03: helped a lot:salute:
About the torpedoes, what are the torpedoes who have magnetic exploder?
I use very times the mk14 and i use them for keel attack and 90% of the times i sink une brake in half:D, but i dont know if the others torpedos MK18 MK27 etc. have magnetic exploder:O:
Thanks for the inf. :DL

The Mk.27 is nothing more than a Mk.14 without the low speed option so it would have the mag. exploder. I never use the 27 for this reason. I like having the option of low speed, makes shooting two different ships much easier.
I don't really know about the Mk.18, don't use them much and never tried a keel shot with them. You can change it in the game but don't know if the game really models mag exploders, most likely does.

Hi:DL
Thank you very mutch:O:
Yeah, the Mk27 is bad in mi opinion, to slow for me:O: i like Mk23 and Mk14 ...
... I think, i go use the mk14 for keel attacks and Mk23 to contack attacks, i think that is the best option or not LOL:arrgh!:
p.s:sorry mi english:oops:

Of course you mean the Mark 23. The Mark 27 is the Cutie, which takes some experience to make it useful at all.

May I also add that going for those beneath the keel shots can be a tad un-reliable. Not to mention magnetics nasty habit of premature detonation.
I get my best results by setting the torpedoes to shallow and go for impact.

Keel-buster shots with a magnetic trigger are great, but they are sometimes tough to get.
I have found that when you set up for an under keel shot...
1) Slower run speed settings allow your shot to have more time to properly detonate once it arrives under your target. (I think historically, magnetic triggers tended to blow-up premature much more often when set to run fast.)
2) Unless you have targeted a hefty, large ship that has some substantial beam width to shoot at broadsides, it may be best to shoot a magnetic at "bad"/wide angle on bow attacks. This of course makes for even more tricky targeting, but it gives your torpedo a longer time to be exposed to the hull surface in order to go off the best.
3) Be sure not to set the mag. torpedo too low, or it's as good as shooting blanks. Even a setting at or just a foot above the keel can result in a shot that may skid along the hull and then go off. :03:
