As an electrical engineer I've seen alot of stupid things in my time but this one takes the cake.

How this ever got by permitting I will never know :haha:

WHAT THE ****?!
Having done more wiring jobs arround houses and appartments than I care to remember, what the **** is this ****?
That out of the way, the last apartment I completely rewired because all the wiring was NOT colour coded, everything was just white wires with no markings.

You're right there. That box should down into the tile area to give it more stability and make the breakers easier to reach when sitting in the tub. WTH were they thinking?

Must have been designed by Obama.

My guess is the "bath" was actually once a closet or other use room. Its since been remodeled, but the expense of moving the breaker panel was too much, so it stayed.

Permitting would actually not be neededon a remodel in most cases if they were just changing the plumbing. Without needing an electrical inspection (which they wouldn't if no electrical changes were made), its a technically legal thing.

Just not real smart.

WTF.:o

circut breaker+moisture in air/water= asking for trouble...

(its gotta be shoped... and if it isnt it is the most dangerious thing ive seen today.)

That would surely have to be a doctored picture,:hmmm: nobody would pass that, if someone got fried there would be a legitimate lawsuit!!:nope:

Even if it was a re-fit no contractor in his right mind would do that installation it is a clear violation of the NEC.

But the quote "most dangerous thing Ive seen today" today is the right word. Ive seen just as bad if not worse things in my carrier.

Just recently I saw a hot tub installation where the owner had put a time clock in to run the hot tub certain hours. Not a bad idea really its where the time clock was put. It was hanging on the wall from a nail above the hot tub :o wtih no GFI protection.

Ive seen circuit breakers held closed with a screw becuause and I quote "It kept tripping" :nope:

Ive seen 240V 'multi pole' loads served by two single pole breakers :haha:

Ive seen 40 ampere breakers with 20 ampere wire connected to them.

Not really dangerous but amusing and it did scare the crap out of us... Ive seen a 60" x 30" air duct get sucked flat like a straw when the smoke dampers closed and the air conditioner kept running :har: was standing right under it when it happed.

I had my kitchen rebuild, the electrician told me he works with the latest safety standards....

The idiot made a powerconnection UNDER my waterconnection to the washing machine, and i had to change the drain as it was sitting next to the powerconnection...:shifty:

This is the reason for ground wires. It's perfecty safe to use that shower with that fusebox located there.

What's with the big fonts ? HAH !!! I finally got to say it to someone else. :DL

Lol... yea... Makes you wonder what people think... Im sure people think any old wire can go to any old power sourse to any old socket... lol:hmmm:

whats with that small fonts...:rotfl2:J/j

You are very wrong besides the fact of it being a blatent code violation.

The reason for a ground wire is for the case of a phase to case failure the circuit breaker will trip. Thats it... the ground wire serves no other purpose.

There is also possible a low level fault currrent path typically through a human to ground at a very small (but deadly) current level which would not trip a circuit breaker and the current would continue to pass through said human being.

I have tesitified in court as a professional witness for this type of tragic mishap twice. I know of many other engineers whom have done so as well. In fact some make a living off this type of testimony.

Thats why GFI breakers were invented. :yep:

Ground fault interrupt =/= ground wire.

All the electrics in our families country home sauna are with GFI breakers for that very reason SteamWake explained. Both my parents hold electrical engineering degrees, I have just done a ****load of wiring in my time.

Water and power don't mix. As a Train driver who has seen what happens when people get a little to close to the overhead, best to keep your distance!:dead:
