Yes, I cannot type properly but with many years experience and a pwoerful disdain for spelling, I can rip off 30 words per minute...except when I hit that *$@#%!! CAPS lock :damn: Then I look up aND SEE i HAVE TYPED ABOUT 4000 WORDS IN ALL CAPS AND HAVE TO BACK THEM OUT AND START Over. :dead:
Yes, if I could kill you, CAPS lock, I would. Slowly. TO THE PAIN. And I bet tHEN i COULD MANAGE 45 WORDS PER MINUTE.

In Microsoft word, all you have to do is highlight the words you want to change and hit Shift + F3. This will convert everything to lower case. Hitting it again will capitalize the first letter of the words. For example…
Text:
“AH CRAP, I JUST REALIZED I’VE BEEN TYPING IN CAPS THIS WHOLE TIME. NOW I GOTTA REDO EVERYTHING!”
Shift + F3 once:
“ah crap, i just realized i’ve been typing in caps this whole time. now i gotta redo everything!”
Shift + F3 twice:
“Ah crap, i just realized i’ve been typing in caps this whole time. Now i gotta redo everything!”
It’ll fix most issues, but you probably will have to go and fix little things like “i’ve” and proper names. It won’t do that itself for god knows why.
If that don't work, this will. (http://www.lower-case-switcher.com/)
Neal...you also have a CAPS LOCK converter build in to the forum. If you type all in CAPS LOCK, the forum will automaticly convert it :D
BTW...I have before seen you loose your cool. Good to see your human - now go have a beer and curse at it!!

I have no problems with caps... I'll just paste the text in my Notepad++, select all, and "uncap" every word. Then, I'd just have to put in caps the initial letter for each sentence. Much easier. :DL
Neal, you got a long way to go to hit my 80 WPM...with or without caps lock...

I'm able to hit up to 95. But I've had several years of typing classes.
Ah, typing classes were nice back in school. Our teacher was this burned out old tard who knew almost nothing of computers, so she also didnt know that there was a kinda quick save/quick load function in the program (prolly programmed by Jesus himself as it was ooooold) we used. But jebus, she should've raised some suspicion when half the class were getting straight A+'s from the tests. :haha:
Ow and the best part was, that you could actually go in and modify the text that you were supposed to type. So me and few of my mates decided to color up the dull stories 'abit'. :rotfl2:
Hmm... I wonder what happened to that teacher.. she cried about everything all the time, think of Brooke from Bold & Beautiful, but slam her face with a baseball bat a few times and you get roughly what resemles our teacher of the time.

Im a self taught touch typist.
I learned at a very young age in my teens.
I learned so that I could copy morse code at higher rates of speed than I could hand write.
After a while there was a disconnect of the delay of hear the dits and dahs translated into which key to press and it became almost subconcious automatic.
At that time I could copy code at 60wpm, talk on the telephone, and read a magazine all at the same time.
Now Im lucky to copy code at 30wpm and get it all correct. :yep:
I can still type pretty fast though.
But I still cant find one of these !

It's a bit of a long shot Neal, but here you go: next time you look up at the computer and find you have just typed all those words in caps, go out and buy yourself a copy of the latest version of AutoCAD, come home and install it. Then after creating a new TEXT Template, copy and paste your mistaken Caps words into the blank drawing sheet you have just created, then use the ExpressTools menu to choose the Text Modifyer Tool and select change text to Caps/LowerCaste, press Return, then copy or cut your blurb back into whatever you were doing before having to spend ~4k on CAD :arrgh!:
Sorted.

Can't stand those laptop keyboards. That's why I have an external one
Apart from that, I have at least 2 mechanical pencils and about 4 pens (2 regular, 1 shorthand, 1 calligraphy :smug:). Nothing beats shorthand if you want to jot down something really fast. Always beats me when I see students in the lecture hall with their clumsy computers ...
