As much as I like this stuff :ping:, I'd say it will most probably NOT find its way in SH5.

SH5 devs are certainly looking for some ambient old-school music, something fitting the game itself basically, not for metal, nor rock music, hip hop, rap, etc. you know. ;)

Buy the album, convert the track to .ogg format, put it in Ubisoft\data\Sound\Gramophone, and you can already play SH3 and SH4 U-Boote missions with this track on the gramophone.

I don't think it is. It's U-Boote-related, and there's no spam link. :)

Come on guys, stop smelling spam everywhere.

I'd replace the metal stuff immediately with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI7jb-TnfjA http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Very nice. I'd love to see some sweeping orchestral stuff in SH5.

its nice and amuzing but i think it would get really agravating to hear it again and again just like that "yaay" guy

i would prefer a german bar room strumpet singing to the boys or something along those lines

Don't get me wrong, I have a few serious contenders in mind but because of copyright laws etc...

LOL

I used to get mad when anyone "insulted" the Das Boot soundtrack, but now I find it amusing.
While I'm a big fan of metal, I don't see how this'd fit the game.

We didn't get any of it in the presentation at Copenhaguen, in fact, I think it was SH4's music. And it's also probable it will be the very last thing we'll learn of.

Cheers

I'd say use Vitali Chaconne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jlcca97wow4&feature=related)for the theme...very sad. Fits the Battle of the Atlantic perfectly.

Unless they fix it so you can't add tracks.

The best alternative would imho be a remade version of the SH3 theme or some U-boat related song from the time, but I would not mind if they used this. :arrgh!:

:yeah: same here, they could plug in some reworked sh3 sounds and leave the modders to change them if they want something different.

honestly i understand that we all want lots of stuff to be perfect because thats just human nature but really, i see so much of the stuff people are asking for and wanting to be put in the game that has nothing to do with the "game" being the priority to get "it" working the best it can be.

ask yourself what do you want the game to be when its released? do you want the most beautiful eye candy ever but no time was spent fixing bugs because they were working on all that crap?

keep your eyes on the prise and dont get distracted by asking for or expecting too much. after all the modders will need something to do so lets not have everything be perfect. :D

the lower your expectations are, the less chance you will be dissappointed.

What's the problem?

They told us of SH5 and now they stint us on information. We are bored and start to talk about irrelevant topics to dawdle away.

We have a smalltalk about possible soundtrack for SH5, that's no request for the developers.

Whatever music they use - if I/we don't like it I'll/we'll replace it anyway.

The SH 3 background music was okay, though I quickly shut it down.
The twanging and screaming proposed on this thread, I find totally out of line.

Ubi did a good music job in SH2 and SH3. The first GWX gramophone package was the best--just Je Atendre was missing.

Normally I would have not posted on this thread. Just making sure that UBI doesn't get the impression that post-period twanging and screaming is the way to go.

Although WWII was not a civilized event, music then had not reached rock bottom yet (pun intended). :D

Or, in my case, remove it altogether. I've always found music, in any simulation, annoyingly distracting. It's usually one of the first options I turn off.

I agree JSCones... but you gotta agree with the OP.. nothing says 1940's immersion like some good Death Metal! /sarcasm

You know, my parents brought me up to respect all opinions, to believe that all ideas, even if I do not think them best, have some merit. After reading the OP I have to call my parents and tell them they were wrong.

I've always thought the Vangelis music "End credits" from the movie, Blade Runner, strongly resemble, Heimkehr from Das Boot. Take a listen...

Something completely different. Music by Paul Ruskay, anyone who's played sierras Homeworld would know what im meaning. I'm sure if he did the music for SH5 you wouldn't want any other to replace. Paul not only did some of the music for Homeworld but a couple of other games as well.

I have his music modded into SH3 and 4, when im ingame and out in the atlantic or pacific with his music playing its just plain blardy awesome . Its for me like his music was meant to be for the Silent Hunter series. Nothing else beats it.

Example: Turanic Raiders Battle Music by Paul Ruskay

I'd like the menu to show a sub moving slowly whrough murky water on the music of Khachaturian's Gayane suite. It's from the movie 2001: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSLLmA91kXg. It's the most eerie tune I can think of.

The opening movie could feature Bach's Matthaus Passion (either the first part or the one from Casino).

Actually I've been wondering what song I should use for my first SH5 movie.
:hmmm: How about the last part of "Echoes" by Pink Floyd? The one that starts after the "elephant screams" and has piano pings :ping:. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSJrv95clso&feature=related

Or how about Ennio Morricone's "The Trio" for a deck gun showdown between a sub and 2 destroyers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWo__6Xn6Qs. I can almost see the sub surfacing at 4:30 for a suicide attack :o, guns blazing.

The final part of "Pines of Rome" also deserves a clip showing a fleet of 100 ships with a few BB's :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbspyZassKk.

And one can surely make a nice one on Black Sabbath's "Die Young" or Rob Dougan's "Clubbed to death" (although this one has been used a bit too much lately at figure skating :damn:).

Why don't they just pay the royalties to Wolfgang Peterson and use the Das boot sound track already? The film is ultimately the inspiration, so they may as well go ahead and use it. :88)
