Problem with Grönemeyer is - he is famous in Germany that almost nobody can understand what he sings. :DL No joke, it's true. Say "Grönemeyer" on the streets, and people immediately say "Boy I can't understand that guy..."
He should write songs, but not sing himself, imo. A few of his texts and songs were good, most do not interest me. In German pop music he is one of the leading big numbers. "Das Boot" was just an experiment in acting, he does not make any appearances as actor since then. In a long talkshow I once saw him in he gave me the impression to be a very reasonable, intelligent and sensible guy.
How come they cant understand him? im not even good at german, but i still get the meaning with most songs :p

After "Das Boot" he plays 1983 as an actor in the german movie "Frühlingssinfonie". This movie was the first co-production of West- and East- Germany. In preparation for this role, he lived for half a year in the GDR.
2007 he was acting as a doctor in the movie Control, a film about Ian Curtis, [/URL] lead singer of the band Joy Divison.
My first contact with his music was 1982 when he sang his song about a very popular German fast food dish, the Currywurst.

Indeed, however, his songs are pretty good to listen to when you are on a party and are getting drunk. :D
Still beats that HipHop crap these days. :03:

This song is dedicated to his wife Anna, who died of cancer at the age of 45 years. A few days after his wife, his brother died also of cancer.

He wears his sunglasses because of Morbus Basedow, which causes bulging / protruding eyes :know:

Silence! I won't hear another word against Heino. I know, I brought him up - to my eternal detriment. It is a breach of security I will never live down. I am the latter-day John Walker, as played by the noted Shakespearian actor Powers Booth in that TV film.
The Soviet Union/WARPAC had their Perimetr/Dead Hand doomsday device.
NATO had Heino.
It is well known to strategic theorists that, in the event of a breach of the western plains by conventional forces, Heino would simply have sat down in the middle of the Fulda Gap on a canvas folding chair in a tight suit and sang his popular rendition of "Muss I Denn" which, without respect to the charlatan Elvis Presley, is surely the definitive rendition. Backed up by a division of enthusiastic schoolchildren and at least two-dozen pairs of refractive goggles (custom-made by Zeiss) to shield the Commies from his pop-eyed gaze, the armoured Red hordes would have simply popped their turrets in awe...the deflagration providing an amusing counterpoint to the voice of a liberating angel (providing they could be heard above the Mellotron and Hammond B3 synthesiser).
That was theoretically only the first phase, of course. Next, tactical German forces under the "dual-key" arrangement would have deployed David Hasselhoff, but he was outlawed under SALT II.
...sang his popular rendition of "Muss I Denn"...
Ow god no! That's 2 reasons why I cant watch Das Boot ever again in the same darn thread! :dead:
