I awoke this morning just before dawn to a sight like this:

Driving to work was like driving through thick red fog. Visibility was down to only a few hundred metres. The airport got closed for a while and Sydney Harbour ferries were also halted. The sky didn't really start to clear until around 2 or 3pm this afternoon.
A very eerie looking day.
