MS got to many complaints about Vista not being to play older games\software without alot of hassle.
I seem to recall it depends on the W7 version tho.

Im using Win7 x64 ultimate and SHIII 1.4 +GWX 3.0
Played around the clock this game for 2 months and i didnt had 1 single CTD or any other glitch related to OS,( odities like ships going aground etc are our old friends.. :) ), so YES it works flawless even on x64 version of WIn7.
I have to say here just 1 thing,it may be big thing, and that is:DRIVERS!
it can realy ruin your day if u have bad drivers.

As long as your version of SH3 does not have Starforce in it then yes it plays flawlessly on Win7.
If your version of SH3 has Starforce then start looking for a version without it, because unless UBI releases another patch for SH3 taking out or updating the Starforce it will not install (I found this out the hard way).
