The more I see this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuWt2P1Fk4Y&feature=player_embedded), the more I want this game. Comes out Oct. 10.

Vote El Presidente or else
I've been waiting for it too
Hehe, Tropico was fun little game back then. Tho, my country never really got big because I was more interested in jailing and killing my citizens. :haha:

I used to lay this game a lot, occasionally created socialist paradises, occasionally ran complete hellholes, and sometimes build as many prisons as my island could fit, then jailed everyone and passed the edict which sent them all to the states as illegals, just to piss the us off, then signed a deal with the soviets to keep the invasion out and ran away with my huge slush fund.
Good times.

I dident even know there was a tropico 2 :rotfl2:
Heres another trailer that just shows cutscenes and nothing with the actual gameplay in it.
I had the fisrt one and played it a bit but burned out fast. It came out at a bad time and got run over by the likes of Knights of the Old Republic
Ill watch the reviews on this title though I still like the idea.

I always wanted to play Tropico. I saw it at Wal-Mart years ago but couldn't decide between that or Sim City 3000 Unlimited. I chose SC3000. I knew there was a Tropico 2 but never got that, either. The trailer looked good. I will have to check out Tropico 3. I hope my computer can handle it.

Tropico 2, though I didn't play it, has a pirate theme to it which I never liked the sound of compared to the old one

Hehe, I remember when the "advisor" in Tropico 2 says something like "Can't shiver our timbers, without timber!" Meaning, I should build a lumber camp. :DL

He said 'Vote' -three times! :har:
In my country, El Presidente votes YOU!
Downloading the demo now ... thanks
I really like it that they've returned to the modern Carribean setting. Already the music made playing Tropico 1 worthwhile :DL

Ow yeah! The music was awesome in T1.
This looks really cool, to bad all the links are sloooooooow.

I've downloaded it with about 1100 kB/s
Too bad it needs a video card with shader 3.0 - even as minimum system requirements. The game runs, but the water looks kinda weird - on my brand new notebook. Then again, I bought it for writing my essays and not for playing :know:
Damn it, I used to max my line from filefront before the site died and came back to life, now I get 100kbps. 270kb from gamershell is the best i get at the moment. :damn:
Hahahaha, this is fantastic, I am buying this game.:woot:

I dragged out the original tropico last night and played a while.
Its still a fun game but I was supprised and reminded just how much of it had been 'lifted' from Railroad tycoon II. From menu layouts to sounds.
Tropico at that time was by pop top whom were the remnants of gathering of developers or GOD if you will. All of which were under Sid Miers.
So I ask is Sid or anyone from GOD still involved with the project?

Tropico is the only game sound track I have on my I-pod. I hope the origonal music is still there.

I just remembered how much I actually sucked at the game. But I guess if it's too tough, I am too weak ;)

Tropico 3 is developed by Haemimont Games, I have no idea if any of the developers of the original Tropico is involved.

Haeminont was involved in producing the original Tropico however it would appear that the old poptop / god and Miers are no longer involved in it.
Still I got the demo last night and messed with it a little bit. Did the tutorial and it is nearly verbatium copy of the original (with shinier graphics) and a few other quirks.
Old Tropico players will find themselves quite at home with this game.
Which to me is a good thing.
When they re-did railroad tycoon as "Sid Miers Railroads" it had very little resembalence to the original and frankly Railroads left me quite dissapointed.

Well I sat through the credits and I can say that none of the original team except the producer are involved with this project.
That doesent really bother me it looks like their team did a good job and ho boy what a list of 'testers'. :salute:
Its a shame that good ole pop top doesent even get a passing nod for the concept.

When I first heard "Haemimont Games", I gulped a bit. Not exactly the company from which to expect quality software. I just hope they get the balancing right and don't release it prematurely.

Ah, ok. I didn't know that. :)
Yes it is quite similar to the original, it didn't take long to get started.
