"A leading human rights group has suspended its senior military analyst following revelations that he is an avid collector of Nazi memorabilia."

Anyone followed this thing? A guy who was responsible for following Israel's action turns out to be an enthousiast of Nazi - memorabilia. His grandfather was a German soldier in WW2.

IMO it would seem quite logical for someone with an interest in WW2 to be also interested in modern day Israel. I don't see what the hoopla is all about.

By this logic anybody who plays Germany in games are also Nazis, its just a collection, who cares?

I plan to start a collection of swords some day, does that mean I plan to go around stabbing people? If I had a collection of guns does that mean I go around shooting people?

Believe it or not, until a while ago, there was a court decision in Germany which outlawed wearing / dealing with anti-nazi symbols (e.g. crossed out swastikas) on the grounds that it could still be used to covertly promote fascism.
I'm glad this ridiculous decision has been revised, but those guys in the article above seems to follow the same absurd logic.

At the end of the day people collect Societ military stuff which some would find offensive, I personally don't see the big deal.

Just PC do gooders once again.

Well I (just like so many others here I suspect) own an expansive collection of military books so I'd better own up now to be guilty of plotting world domination via military means

And my interest in advanced nuclear weapon technology makes me the most wanted terrorist on the planet?

My collection of books contains 1000's of pictures and illustrations of nazi symbols,so i can tell who's who..these books were MADE for that purpose..and i refuse to give in to 'all the do gooders' that still whine about something that happened 70 years ago and the inhumanity of it all....jesus look around you the world is still in a **** state today, better work on that you hippies!(sorry for the rant)

I would say more than 50% of my books on war and military are about the German side of things, this because I think they had the coolest stuff, not because I want to be in the SS.:rotfl2:

There must be a "back side" story, its just make no sence to me :-?. If i like to collect info on WW2 German tanks i don`t have to worship Hitler in the process, not to mention SH3 and incoming SH5.

Me too. I guess I better throw out my entire U-boat library, as well as my Jurgen Oesten signed U-boat artwork. :nope:

Can I at least keep the painting of the HMS Hood that's in the bathroom?

No, the Hood was sunk by the germans so keeping a symbol of british defeat clearly shows that you are really a closet nazi

I'm glad nobody here plays Silent Hunter 3 because in that case he would be a nazi.

The story as I understand it is that the commission he worked for was critical of Israeli war crimes, So in typical Israeli fashion they found out about the collector and started to scream about him being impartial.

He was let go over political reasons.

Actually the guy isn't fired, at least according to that article. He's just "suspended pending an investigation". So he might still keep his job.

You know why they suspended him with pay, don't you? Because they know he'll probably sue, and in the event he does they won't have a leg to stand on in court lol. But this- it's preposterous. What he likes to do privately in his own home on his own time is his business, not theirs. End of story. Sheer dumbassery if there ever was.:nope:

People are stupid...it is the way the world is today, sadly. There are many statements that are a misconcept, but commonly believed. As you said "anybody who plays Germany in games are also Nazis", etc. Why do you think more games are made for everyone to play the "Allies/American" side of the story instead of their enemy country?
