Two of 'em. They buzzed her all the time I was in contact.
I was within 5,000 yards at one point but they payed me no mind.

Wish you guys would stop teasing me with these fake SS's of a ship that can't exist. Over a year and I've never seen it...Ya'll got to be making this ship up....:haha:
No way I'm the only one that hasn't seen it...

i saw it only once and it must have been doing something like 20kts
i even thought about modding it once so it would only do 3-5kts so we could stay with it when found but i lost intrest and never did the mod.
in stock it had a full speed setting i think for 25kts or something silly like that
i dont know if TMO or RFB ever took it out or left it in the game and i never asked about it

yep... lol, ive seen this ship.ist a fast one.:yep:
anyone ever thought of makeing it playable... so you could go around and distroy american, and japanease ships... (ex it would be enemy to all)
like davy jones ship in the pirates of the carribean movies... (ex, it could still dive.)
and it would fire broadsides that could tear apart most of the warships.
That's the flying dutchman!!
according to folklore (and wikipedia)..
"it is a ghost ship that can never go home, doomed to sail the oceans forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. It is said that if hailed by another ship, its crew will try to send messages to land or to people long dead. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship is a portent of doom."
how was your patrol after seeing it? did you get yourself sunk?

You're all lying....STOP IT....
it doesn't exist. If it doe's I would've seen it by now........
We set out in Luzon on Halloween night, roasted marshmellows on the deck and told ghost stories....Still, it didn't show up.
Guess you have to believe in ghost to see it.

She was dong 25kn. both times.
Kstnab I'm still in contact with it now but I haven't seen hide nor hair of IJN shipping since the first sighting on the 20th. And now that I think back whenever I've seen her before I don't think I saw any shipping after for a long time.
Has anybody else noticed this?
Armistead I'll trade you one of my Dutchman for one of your BIG convoys :know: :haha:

Well, I guess the portent of doom only happen if you see it in real life!!

While I haven't seen it personally, I can attest to the fact that she is indeed in the game. Have a look in your Sea folder, the Dutchman is there.

Saw her again today, about 75 Nm. South of the first two sightings.
Led me to a very nice convoy, I got two ships down so far for about 14,000 tons. :yeah:

She is neither Axis nor Allied nor Neutral. The Dutchman is on her own side. :arrgh!:

Actually the Flying Dutchman is NOT neutral, it is at this very moment in Immortal combat against other "Ghost Ships of the Line". .......Forever:arrgh!:
If you meet them, I suggest you look away.:dead:

G2B most often seen in the Luzon Straight. In this encounter I've seen her 5 times now, all within a few days and about 75 nm. She's off the northern tip of Luzon near the small islands on the west side. End of Feb., first of March. 43

Thanks Magic452, The Luzon Straights can be a large area to cover if one is looking for a Ghost Ship. One other question, Does the Dutchman have any effect on crew morale?
magic452
09-23-09, 01:17 AM
Well she sure boosted my moral but I didn't notice any improvement with the crew. interesting though, I'll check it out.

Hi all,
I bumped into the Dutchman just under the letter "t" in Luzon straight on the map.
My bridge crew immeadiatly cleared the deck and would not come back up no matter how many times I dived and surfaced. In the end CO2 went to 100% (even though I was surfaced) and I was forced to abandon the game and restart from my last save point.
Seems the Dutchman scared my crew silly.
BTW couldn't do any damage with the deck gun when I tried (had to man it myself!).
Ivan.

Keltos - I know the Dutchman is in the game... I had just never seen it lined up with other similar ships in a running battle (like Peabody's image). I assumed (wrongly) he had photoshopped the image...
