Hello,
I am facing a very bizarre situation :hmmm: Just started a campaign in GWX3,
date,09.09.1938, Uboat type VIIB, 7th Flotilla based in Königsberg.
I am asked to patrol grid AO98 and sink target ships 4 of them all BRitish and not moving, plus a 2 ships convoy sailing slowly, also British...
Well I did that without any problem and after having patrol my zone for the requested 24 jhours, I sail back to base without taking special precaution, after this is a training and I do not expect any attack on my sub...but passing not far from Pillau and also closing to base I am suddenly under attack....I see no enemy but only hear artillery shelles flying by and hitting the sub...sdo I am forced to dive and sail toward base undersea !!
Is this a normal situation?? never happened to me before!!:wah:
Thanks for any tips or info....

They put Bernard on your boat before you sailed hoping he would be lost at sea. At the thought of him coming back again the German long range guns have been trained on you! :haha:

OMG! I thought Bernard was already lost at sea.....:wah:
I must know do a complete search in the sub...and disembark him on the nearest beach
Thanks for the info...LOL :salute:

Ok;
I finally finished the patrol....Sailed as long as possible at Periscope depth until close (15km) from Königsberg. Then surface and docked ...We could not find Bernard, so I suppose he must have fallen asleep some where....

No hyrophone contacts after diving?
Which grid did this happen in? (or can you give us a screen shot of the map?)
What was the weather like? What EXACTLY did you see?

Hi,
This happened at the limit of Grid A098 not far after Pillau while sailing East totowards Königsberg.
The oly thing I saw was a NAval artillery Blockhaus on the shore and some German cargo and fishing trawler...no Hydrophone sound what so ever.
But Now I will always be very carefull

You say the year is 1938. Is this correct? If so, you're a little early.:arrgh!:

In SH3, if you attack a neutral ship of any nationality, you will become the enemy of that country for 24 hours.
So, if you fire on a British ship prior to September 3rd 1939... they will fire back at you.
Brogneface, I am assuming "1938" was a typing mistake?

Yes, yes.....Stupid typo.....I meant 1939 and on the 1st & 2nd of August.......I read that if you becomme a renegate all fire at you...This is very mean....As I was only following orders...And those ships were marked as target ship!!
What awaits my crew in the coming patrol

In your first post you said 9th of September, now you say 1st & 2nd of August. If you were sinking British vessels on the latter dates you pre-empted the war by a little over a month! In which case you'd be about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit all round.

Everything in August 39 is Neutral, fire on one and all Neutrals deem you an adversary.
Better to stay offshore until 4th then receive the radio message to return to base.......if you are using SH3 Commander and have set the days in port to 20, apply for a transfer to 1st or 2nd Flotilla then commence you pre-war patrol on 24th which allows you to get into your allocated patrol area prior to the commencement of hostilities, as they did in RL.

Humm,
Just to clarify everything....Sorry for giving the dates wrong in the beginning....After a double check, here is all the data:
Patrol starts: 01.08.1939; U-Flotilla Wegener- Base Könisberg
Mission order: patrol Grid AO98 Sink tagets ships, 2 ships convoys.
So I am to disregards orders from BDU? If I had done so....I would have never got the point for completing mission orders!!!

Ah ,you are not alone in this...
Same thing happened to me,but i was lucky enough that weather was so poor that i didn`t have to dive:I just ordered flank speed and within minutes i was out of sight..
Same time of year, same position, same flotilla....GWX 3.0 and vanila SHIII patched to 1.4.
And yes, i also tried to sink those target ships...
Problem is because,i think, those were GERMAN ships and therefore by attacking them game engine declarded us hostile for next 24 hours.Perhaps next time we should wait a bit, before starting return trip. :hmmm:

Ah.....Good to know I am not the only one....Those target ships were British, all of them.....But as you say they might have German's in disguise.....Anyway yes next time I am in this sort of situation, I'll wait before going back ti base....
Good hunting to all

Germany wasn't at war with Great Britain until 11am on the 3rd of September 1939 so if you attacked any British ships prior to then you're up sh*t creek without a paddle.
