View Full Version : Can I still eat this?
I got a 400g UNOPENED thingy of minced meat in my fridge. The best before date (or last usable date in this case) was the 15th. So... can I still use it? :-?

It should be perfectly ok, most best before dates are extremely conservative for companies to avoid liability.
I see no real reason why not. I've eaten worse :03:

Normally food is good about a month after the last use date. However, if the meat is moving and bubbling when you open the package I do not recommend eating it.
I remember once we had a package of moist dog food. The package had a small pin whole. After about 3 days of having it my wife said she smelled something awful(it was not me). We found the package under the sink were we leave the dog food. Christ, it was swollen and like breathing. The smell was just nasty. The worst smell I have ever encountered. NASTY !
I see no real reason why not. I've eaten worse :03:The mind boggles, for example Sh!t is worse!!:haha:

lol, should be fine, it's only four days. Incidentally, did anyone see that Ray Mears prog where he ate a can of US Army corned beef from the Vietnam war? It was dated like '68 or something, apparently it was fine though. :-?

I've eaten Civil Defense crackers from the 50's. A little bland tasting but still good.

well... you can tell if it was bad...
If you see a trail of ferret diarrhea follow it, you will probably find a ferret with a waiting to snipe you... lol

When spotting a trail of diarrhea most people move away from it, but when it comes to the crafty ferret it is a loose-loose situation anyway. If you move away you just end up in the open and get shot, when you follow it you either step on a mine or get shot. So you are better off killing yourself at sight of diarrhea.

Now this big question remains.
''Dowly...did you ate it?''
HunterICX
We need to set a poll up!!:haha:
1) Did he eat it with no problems.
2) Did he eat it and throw up.
3) Did he eat it and have the runs.
4) Both 2 & 3.
5) Did he eat it and called 911.
6) Did he throw it away.

It depends.
Meat you buy from the supermarket should have the packaging removed before you puin the fridge as it is breathing. It will last longer that way.
Ever noticed when you go into the butchers all his meat is unwrapped?

Nice tip!
I'd just say, before you eat the minced meat, make sure it's well-done. I think in that case you shouldn't have any problems with it.

I ate it, was nice.
But then a Ferret would eat anything!:D
Glad you enjoyed it!
