Odd behavior for an airplane indeed...
While leaving the harbor for our third cruse.. I hear a couple of airplanes circling. I usually try to spot them to see whats flying over. I looked all around and found these two German fighters in the water swimming about like flies in your soda-water. I later went in to get a closer look , then hit one with my sub.. the conflagration was pretty intense even though the sub never took any damage.
Im resizing some photos, Ill post them in the morning... this is a video of the plane swimming along on fire.

looks like a big fat fly alright, just change the soda water to a scotch and it could well be in my drink :DL

Hmmm... I also found several ships running aground when this happened. I started thinking that it was a file corruption problem, and moved my master installation over to my play partition and loaded it again. All these strange things were there again this time as well.

Saving your game in the proximity of any harbour causes all units to loose their waypoints. Planes will crash and ships will think they are amphibious vehicles.
Solution = Don't save until you are 25km from dock.

easy enough to fix, thanks man...
I had already reloaded the install and the mods to make sure that everything was right and it did it again, so lemme say the least your solution is very welcome.]
Anyways, this is what happens when you hit a plane with a sub!

Yeah. It's because you saved too close to the port. Just save your game when you're a good way a way from it and you'll be fine.

No... they are going to try to combat shipping with the new...submarine bf 109... they sneak up in packs on convoys and surface... flying over the convoy shocking the enemy and then they drop there bombs...
they also are trying to combat the new submarine spitfire... lol

All units in Sh3 have a collision avoidance behavior, allowing them to steer around objects.
On occasion the collision avoidance behavior is not effective... based on circumstance.
Even without saving in the vicinity of moving objects (which as stated above causes them to lose their programmed waypoints) aircraft will sometimes collide.
We did a great deal of work in GWX to space units properly and minimize inadvertant collisions by giving them plenty of room to move... but no fix is 100% effective for this matter. (Apart from maybe removing said objects altogether... and nobody wants to do that natually.)
