Not quite sure how this one slipped under the radar until today, but it's been revealed that Bohemia Interactive and Black Element will be bringing us a remake of the ground-breaking 80's classic Carrier Command.

Not just any remake either; it's running on the same engine as Arma2.

I'm a little worried about it being released on those "next generation" consoles, though. Doesn't seem like a console could run a game of this scope. Let's hope the PC and consoles will simply be getting different versions. :hmmm:

And another great classic goes down the toilet. :nope:

Metaphorically or Physically?

Give it a chance, mate. :-?

It might turn out half-decent. :D

I'm still to see a good remake, so I dont know how this could be any different from the other crap out there.

See, when they make remakes, they usually take out or add features which then wrecks the whole game. Or if they dont do that, then they dump down the size of the game drasticly, which I think we will see in this one. A2 engine cant possibly have the world the size, or even close to what we had in the original, so we propably end up with the gameplay being mission based instead of an open world thing.

Good point, that's why the planned release for consoles worries me. :-?

Point taken on the bad remakes as well; only remake I enjoyed was TR Anniversary.

I think Battlezone and Battlezone II were excellent remakes. Carrier Command was one of my all time favorite Amiga games and I look forward to this new release. I'm sure it will not be just what the original was with all the new technology available for game development. So long as it retains the basic strategy approach I think it will be a lot of fun.

And I remember to have posted about it even several years earlier, so this has been a running project since many years.

Frankly I wonder if it's really going to see the light of day in the end.

BTW Battlezone 1 and 2 were really good (especially 1), I wish they would do BZ3, that and a new Interstate 76 (I77 maybe)

Its slated per the website as a Spring 2010 release - so not long to see if it turned into vaporware.

Oh I believe it. Both games are still being patched by people who worked on the original games.

I have to agree though, bz1 was better in most ways (I did like the mines though from bz2 but didn't like the static bases)
