I know it is too early, but something I hope Development team should think about:

It wouldn't be that difficult to create a cold war era add on/ expansion pack based on SHV:

If it is based on a Soviet career, mid to late 50s :
- same map
- few additional ships to include,
- Foxtrots, Romeos, Juliets, Whiskeys and Novembers can be generally based on Type XXI which will be included in SHV
- few new missions to include
- sub vs sub warfare, modern ASW and missiles would be only challenging part to implement

I think this might be even easier to implement than a full American campaign

That's definitely better than Cold War, and it'd open the door to man battleships and the likes.

Besides, the Cold War was just cold, no real action, and "what if" scenarios are not that appealing nor selling (not in this part of the simulations world, me thinks). :DL

I like my nuke boats as much as the next guy, but I'll stick to a war that was actually "hot." I would much rather have a Destroyer Command 2 as well.

Well, I am suggesting a game that starts in the cold war, but eventualy gets "hot", there is no point in keeping the cold war "cold" in a wargame

And I disagree about not appealing/ selling, a well done "what if" like the old "Red Storm Rising" could sell. Problem is, other than that example, most "what if" I remember haven't been that good, mainly because they have focused on post Soviet collapse.

Also, I doubt any "destroyer command" type of game will or should be sold as an add on... it is very different concept that could easily be promoted as a completely different, more profitable, stand alone game... And remember we all want Ubi to be profitable so they keep developing Sub sims.

Things for cold war are not easy, in that case you will need to reprogram a whole AL tactics and CPU controled comands for other ships.

It would be stupid to watch destroyers droping ****y depth charges on submerged nuke sub who is 300 m under water and it goes 30+ kts.

it would be to easy to win and too borring

also the precision of sonars, radars and tactics of battleships and enemy subs would be needed to be reconstructed and reprogramed

There's not much point in fighting the cold-war gone hot, since all the nukes will destroy life on earth anyway. :O:

my humble opinion, in the nuclear world, the true enemy is war its self!! crimson tide. I do so like the concept though sneaky peeky, tic tak toe, etc but as mentioned possibly could be a dragged out affair. If hot up could end very abrupt lol, i personally preffer the dev team to stick with uboot , to concentrate all thier efforts into sh5. perhaps in future they will release a cold war scenario, but another idea to the simmers.:)

calm down all let ubisoft finish making silent hunter 5 before even thinking of a cold war mod

ps: there will be to much nuking therefor it will be nothing left to play

(end of world = end of game)

i think cold war is about stealth, finding/locating, and evasion tactics

the chess match between stalkers vs the stalked so your whole goal is remaining undetected.

the way i see it, a cold war mod should view being detected as the end of your mission so if your found you failed your mission

as others have said, nukes arent good weapons for fighting because its over before it even starts.

conventional weapons arent realistic because YOU cant go starting your own war anytime you feel like it so the detection "chess game" is what i see as the best part of a cold war mod
