That a training is done at an event for which security training is being done, sounds - well, I simply have a problem to simply swallow it. Usually such training is done before the event for which you train arrives, eh?

I'm one hour outside Washington. It is raining like hell here. Conducting exercises of all day on the Potomac so close to the Pentagon in 30 kt winds with whipping rain is not happening. Specifically on 9/11. Exercise my arse. :nope:

"Before we report things like this, checking would be good," Gibbs said. Responding directly to a CNN reporter's question about whether the public should have been notified about a training exercise, Gibbs was harshly sarcastic: "If anybody was unnecessarily alarmed based on erroneous reporting that denoted that shots had been fired, I think everybody is apologetic about that."

:haha:

The word disarray comes to mind.

bloody shame that they wont tell us what happened.

It would be nice for people to actually wake up to themselves and realise that no, the CIA isn't full of liars; yes, there is a real threat to the western way of life; yes, our security forces have been able to prevent a number of attacks both in the US and here.

At the end of the day, we will need to maintain vigilence. maintain a tight watch. The threat won't disappear overnight.

Sometimes I wonder just how stupid people can be. You would think that someone would have enough common sense to question whether holding a live fire exercise on 9/11 would be a good idea. Or have a military jet chase Air Force One around New York at low levels without telling anyone.

If I was President, there would be a few more people out of work today. I'd fir these guys in a heartbea.

live fire exercise

The news tonight said that no shots were fired or were even intended to be fired in the exercise. The whole brouhaha was caused by the media misunderstanding monitored exercise radio traffic.

Personally I have no objections to conducting training exercises on 9-11 or 12-7 or 8-24 or 4-12 or any other regular working day.

Y'know come to think about it, readiness is never higher than when everyone is already geared up and deployed like they are during a training exercise.
