I want to discuss you about this.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Overview.html

Does anyone plan to buy it for SH5?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XtKUGvHkm8

It would surely add a whole new experience

I have this Kit, and I play Left4Dead all the time with it. When I play a game without the glasses I have the feeling something is missing.

But SH4 is not working with the glasses, and as I am pretty sure SH5 will use a variant of the SH4 Engine... I fear it will also not work with the glasses.:wah:

I had that thought but as I searched for compatible displays I didn´t found one with at least full HD (1920x1080). So I´ll wait until there´s equipment available.

Good one Gotmilk :yeah:. I forgot about that one. SH3 and 4 are not compatible with stereo graphics and I've missed that feature. There already are decent HMD's (head mounted displays) with head tracking on the market and, with NVidia's support, in a few years we'll have incredible models and decent prices. Nothing would beat walking thorugh the sub with one of those.

So please make the game compatible with stereo 3d technology and make a controller for the rotation of the cameras to support head tracking technology :yeah:

I'm a fan of the stereo 3D, and I very much regret that I could not SH4 with the stereo glasses play.
Who ever I turned on the stereo glasses, I had a Bright green image.

Nvidia has launched a 3-D glasses (3D-Vision ), and I do hope that Silent Hunter 5 here is no disappointment.

Not just 3D, but head tracking too. I bet that in a few years we'll have cheap HMD's with HD resolution and wide angle of view. Would be a mistake to ignore this technology. If not in SH5, then at least in SH6. But you know what they say "Better now then never".

This would be really interesting, because actually SH3 is a game that requires like few others the sense of tridimensional awareness. When you are on the bridge of a ship, distance and angle on the bow estimation of other ships are a plain binocular eyesight ability, hard enough to do elsewhere, but nearly impossible to fine tune at sea if you are not very skilled, due to the lack of other references (You only see flat water around!). So let alone how hard it is in 2D :damn:, though it simulates at least well looking through the periscopes, where everything turned 2D :hmmm:

Head tracking is something cheap and easy to add to the sim, and since many SH series players share the love for simulators with flight ones, I guess the hardware is already there at many homes  Not essential, but a good improvement that should be easy to add.

You mean Track IR. A Fantastic application by the manufacturers really only for people with disabilities have thought that no arms true.

That, however, mainly implemented in the simulation has himself had not thought of the manufacturer.

Track iR would just as well as stereo 3D an amazing revival.
However, before all Games with nivo have this renewal of the future.
In the 90 years had been allowed to revive Stereo3D classes, and die again because it was due health.
But since the demand was so great has the Nvidia stereo glasses let rise again.
At the beginning there were problems with DirectX and OpenGlide and now all the cards are very fast,
and meet the demands. Of course, it is important that one has a good CTR Monitor
Minimum capacity of 100 Hz can. The problem was the new flat screens which a maximum of 85MHz of the largest rendered and no resolution could afford 100Hz.
Also this problem is now solved. Nvidia + Samsung 120 Hz LCD Monitors

http://weblogs.java.net/blog/herkules/archive/2007/09/head_banging_1.html (http://weblogs.java.net/blog/herkules/archive/2007/09/head_banging_1.html)

Have a monitor that is for runners 250EURO to put on the market.
As I said, it is not necessary to buy a flat screen
The custom monitor that is capable of if he has a performance in 1024 # 764 at 100Hz afford
Can.

In short any modern game that has a class that has skills.
Because this is real - game-play .. the Boombastic!

I emphasize the Silent Hunter III with the 3D glasses for games, and the resolution is appropriate
But not with nvida 3D vision as the driver for Silent Hunter are not modified.

Nvidia + Samsung 120 Hz LCD Monitors

http://www.hitechreview.com/it-products/nvidia-announces-3d-vision%E2%80%94the-world%E2%80%99s-first-high-definition-3d-stereo-solution-for-the-home/3506/ (http://www.hitechreview.com/it-products/nvidia-announces-3d-vision%E2%80%94the-world%E2%80%99s-first-high-definition-3d-stereo-solution-for-the-home/3506/)

I didn't mean just TrackIR. I've been following up progress with HMD's (head mounted displays) since the first Vuzix iWear came out. Resolution is still very limited but I've seen 90degrees+1920x1200 pixels+6dof+natural eye focus for less than 20,000 euros. The old ones were 80,000 and had less resolution. With NVidia now back on the 3d train, we can hope that in a few years they'll be even more afffordable. I already play some games with 3d glasses. It's nice but not THAT good. The focus must be changed by keys to achieve a nice 3d effect. NVidia really need to work out an automatic solution or, even better, bring back the old polygon count chart. And most games are not even suited for 3d. Driving games and sims are particularly bad at it. It's WOOOW for the first time, but after a while it gets annoying because you have objects very close (the cockpit) and all other objects are very far (so no 3d effect).

But a submarine interior is perfect for 3d glasses. And imagine the waves :O: Probably, by the time good HMD's arive on the 1000 euro market, we'll be playing SH6... but still, as we've seen with sh3 and sh4, the devs are bound to reuse some parts so better prepare now for the future.

Tried both the anaglyph glasses (first time 6 years ago, if not longer) as well as the 3D Vision glasses (the day before yesterday). They don't make me dizzy like another friend of mine reported, however they both give me fearsome headaches after about an hour of play. Now, I don't know if this is due to the new technology not being polished enough or to the older hardware (me and my brain, :haha:) that just can't cope with the new tech, so I'll just pass and leave the testing to the youngsters for now.

The problem with 3d glasses is that they're trying to achieve the 3d effect by superimposing 2 different images. That means 2 times more graphics to calculate for the pc, and also 2 times less fps. YOur friend might've been playing on a 60hz LCD. Not a good idea :haha:. To get a good 3d effect you need to separate those images a LOT. That can twist your brain so much that you get headaches. The other problem is that your head has to be perfectly aligned with the monitor. Ever tried twisting your head while wearing the glasses  ? HMD's give you 1 display for each eye. The technique is very different. The 3d effect is done completely by your brain so... no headaches.

YOur friend might've been playing on a 60hz LCD.

The dizzy friend had a Samsung monitor rated 3D Vision capable, so that means it's at least 120 Hz (funny, a month ago nvidia said at least 100 hz on their site).

Ever tried twisting your head while wearing the glasses  ?

Old hardware - I'm having enough trouble with the monitor-to-eye-to-brain-to-hands-to-fingers-to-keyboard/mouse as it is, and now you want me to move my head? No thanks :haha:

The 3d effect is done completely by your brain so... no headaches.

Maybe I'll wait for a nextgen organic computer chip and then swap one of those for a brain :har:

In Silent Hunter 3, the 3D glasses were realized.

Since, however, was added to a small problem.
The untrained eyes had a 3D thickness up to about .30% max
And the inexperienced or those who had filled up somewhat:88) (Slivovic) and the
Wanted to go deep then faced the problem that the menu bar,
the
Top left side into the middle of moving and thus the term
The user's disabled. :damn:
So true, a practiced the 3D glasses want to have a little stronger,
The have no chense be forced by the depth. (F6).
I must say whoever wants to enjoy the 3D glasses is Silent Hunte 5 with meny Rooms the premises to be the ideal game for stereo 3D.:yeah:

I support this petition!

I opened that topic in the Nvidia 3D Vision forum in order to ask for that support, so if you want to go there and post, it will not harm!:)

On the other hand it seems to me that here there is some misinformation or outdated info about Silent Hunter and 3D.

As Tomi_099 says, the old nvidia stereoscopic solution (winXP) worked very, very well (not perfect) except for the menu, nonetheless I manage to play in 3D even with the menu hardly altered, because of the very amazing feeling of being there inside the sub, which I can't renounce to. Period.

The "good" news is the Silent Hunter 3 WORKS also with the curent 3D Vision system in Vista/Win7. It didn't work simply because Silent Hunter 3 and Silent Hill 3 have the same executable name (sh3.exe) so 3D Vision system assigns the Silent Hill 3 profile to Silent Hunter 3 when you launch it... All you have to do is change the name of the executable, I use sh3gwx3.exe (can guess which supermod I use?), and launch sh3. After you have to adjust separation and convergence in order to get a nice 3D effect. In case of 3D Vision, you eventually will need to reduce convergence quite a lot, because for some reason when you start the game for first time (after the name change) and thus no profile exists, the convergence settings are at full, so you don't see anything understandable in the screen. Try to keep Ctrl+F5 down some seconds and you will find a nice picture.

About Silent Hunter 4, it works with 3D Vision the same than with the old stereoscopic drivers: you get a green screen. But STILL you can hold down convergence (Ctrl+F5) until the game screen appears, so in fact SH4 works with 3D Vision (with also the menu altered). The bad news, is that it is a very slight 3D, but still 3D, you can put separation to 100% and don't reach the WOW! factor of Silent Hunter 3.

The recommendation is that after adjusting separation and convergence to your taste for each game, press Ctrl+F7 to save (create a profile) so you will not need to repeat the adjusting process each time you launch the game.

About head tracking although I agree that native support would be better, there is also mouse emulation software (as the one from naturalpoint that allows you use TrackIR as the mouse)
