27 and voted, though I have been simming since my pre-tens. I grew up on Janes sims and Gunships on the Amiga, moving through Falcon 4.0 and SPX super mods in the late 90's/early 2000's. Always loved my sims, though only my Falcon 4.0 install has lasted longer than SH3 so far.

Good luck with the article :sunny:

I just thought to say, particulalry as I am now oficially a crusty old 46 yo -

While I enjoy subsims and the Silent Hunter series in particular, in your survey you need to allow for the fact that, well at least in Australia - TV is so bad now, given the choice of blind, dancing, chefs, endless gardening, building decks and home decorating shows or dumb assed talent shows, endless cops and emergency shows and all those little boys with too much gell in their hair earnestly discussing any sport you care to name - why the hell would any one watch TV if they had a half decent computer in the house!!!?????

Roll on Silent Hunter 5

I'm 26 and have been playing sub sims since Command: Aces of the Deep and Silent Service for the NES. I don't remember which I played first as it was about the same time for both. I remember playing the demo for SH1, but never got it. I never played SH2. I have played 688i H/K, 688 Attack Sub, Sub Command, Dangerous Waters, SH3 & 4, and I hope my rig can handle SH5 when the time comes. I look forward to your article. :salute:

Sory mate - used to be American TV was the worst in the world hands down, a simple fact and undisputed, definatly something to feel superior about if you were from Europe or the UK.

Now forget it - there's no TV any where in the world worse than Australia, even countries that dont have TV have better TV than Australia

One thing I must say - I've rather taken to 2 & 1/2 Men - overall the show is neither here nor there but............................................... ......ROSE.............she's a goddess, she's queen - she rules....she's what made America great........................Goodness just oozes from her every pore ...............When I'm really old and crusty she can make my soup anytime.......................

The thing I like about subsim is every now and again we can drift off topic and no one really minds.

Hell its 3 o'clock iin the afternoon, I have good glass of wine and music on the PC and
...........................I"M NOT WATCHING Australian TV!!!!!!!!!

YAY

36, but stopped mentally maturing for the most part at 28. Now when I am flying I work with an older mind, say about 55 or so:)

I am one that sees no reason to "act your age" like I was told to so many times in my life by unhappy adults.

First subsim. Silent Service on a C-64. It became my other obsession this side of Flight Simulator.

I've been around subsims a while now, claim to fame.... I managed to get on the SH3 community day here in the uk (it was a fantastic day out). I wonder if ubi is planning something similar with SHV.

Anyway's, looking forward to the build up and excitment prior to SHV release, and what's gonna happen after!

27 Terran years since the Mothership planted me on this desert planet. I have adjusted well to this strange body and I can move quite convincingly now. I just wish these human females would leave me alone. Every time I tell them we are incompatible they think I'm too "happy" (that was the word, I think) and take it as a challenge to disproove me. Their efforts are futile, as their strange rituals do not have the planned effect of making me sad in any way. On the contrary. As soon as my job of protecting the Silent Hunter Project from future travel intervention, I'll go back to Zfoijawho to my hairy wife and 1 ton children. :o Or stay... hmmm... :hmmm: Being "happy" here doesn't sound bad, with all these females...
THE END

i think the poll is showing something very interesting, this game is one that is attractive to all ages.

i remember reading where something like 75% of those who play video games were in the early to mid 30's and only 20% were actually younger than 20 years old, yet our poll shows silent hunter has a very evenly spread out appeal

Australian TV would be extremely useful if you needed a lobotomy....watch it for a week and you'd lose half your brain.

Those who DO watch it week-in-week-out are pretty brainless to start with, so it has no effect on them....sadly, that seems to be the bulk of society.

I think if Marx were alive today he'd conclude that TV has taken over from religion as the opiate of the people (except the USA, where, I'm staggered to read, only 39% of people believe in evolution ~ perhaps because for 61% they missed out on it ~ and the makers of a film on Charles Darwin can't get a single film distributor to handle it....pardon the irony, but, if these examples are representative, God help us all if the USA is the shining light of humanity.....).

Excuse the rant, I'm feeling a little feisty (nothing new). Reading about the fact that that film can't get distributed in USA really p!ssed me off. I recommend people read How Mumbo Jumbo Conquered the World (http://www.complete-review.com/reviews/sokala/wheenf.htm#ours)

I'm 42, and I seem to be one of the earliest members of SubSim still active on a regular basis.

I love this place.

I deserved that.

When my older daughter turned 21 I called my dad and said for the first time I was feeling old. He stopped me right there and said "Can I let you in on a little secret? People in their seventies really don't appreciate hearing children in their fifties whine about feeling old!"

I'm reminded of that every time I hear a girl (and it's always a girl) complain that she's 25 - "I'm a quarter of a century old!" I like to say "You're two years younger than my youngest daughter. Think of how your mom feels about it!"

I respect those who've gone before me - I just like to tweak 40-year-olds for "feeling old".
