That's part of the problem with this whole "czar"-crazy crap the White House has been involved in. With no congressional confirmation needed, pretty much any idiot can seep through the cracks.

So no one had a problem with his past activisim and the fact that he was a self avowed communist, and a member of the 911 conspiricy group.
But when he calls a political party a bad word they call for his resignation.
What is wrong with this picture?
Oh and the vetting process... there was none he was hand chosen by you know who no slipping through the cracks here.
If it had not been for Glenn Beck and his research into this guys past and present he would still be in office.
His resignation letter
"I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today.
On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.
I have been inundated with calls - from across the political spectrum - urging me to "stay and fight."
But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.
It has been a great honor to serve my country and my President in this capacity. I thank everyone who has offered support and encouragement. I am proud to have been able to make a contribution to the clean energy future. I will continue to do so, in the months and years ahead."
Lies and distortions to distract and divide...indeed.

I do not think that the other stuff he said and did were ignored. The whole package was used by his opponents (Politicians and even more so Bloggers) to work against him. Looks to me as if his own history came back to bite him in his butt.
EDIT: Speaking of which.. Kevin Jennings (apparetly not a Czar) seems can't escape his history either. Jennings, Head of the Office of safe and Drug Free School, and apparently founder of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) is being targeted now.
Mind you, whatever happens in your bed room is nobodies business, but do you really have to teach young adults or kids (14 -18) about how to properly perform fisting and such?

Only 44 more czars/ 'Special Advisors' without congressional oversite to go. Obama has his own Politburo.

"Instead of providing them [answers], the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness," Beck said. "I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future."

Most Major News Outlets Largely Ignore Van Jones Controversy
Most of the major news outlets, like The New York Times and The Washington Post, ignored the swelling heat surrounding former White House environmental adviser Van Jones and the videos surfacing of his controversial statements.
Yes I know its 'fox news' but there is still alot of truth to this.
Van jones did 'resign' under cover of darkness opting to not answer any questions nor make any comments.

Now suppose that Bush had hired such an adviser, and this adviser had make made statements and taken actions which were as far right as Jones' were to the left (or simply off the chart without regard to ideology). Further suppose that these right wing statements and positions were recorded or otherwise captured.
What would the reaction have been (and by whom) in comparison to the Jones' case?
Add Jones to Obama's long list of "fun" people with whom he loves to hang.
